I somehow missed the glows. A little subtlety goes a long way

Oh yes, all the classic cliches present and correct!
These guys are called 'the yolk' - you can guess why! Mindless drone soldiers...

The yolk, wow! I love that even more. Almost wrote 'evil more'.Β Dark and really primal! (but I also can't help but say that after you mentioned the yolk, I thought of another villain called "the Descrambler" but perhaps in his way he helps these guys.

Definitely has that feel. Awesome. I miss the art from those days. Things seem so digitized these days.

Thank you! It's really counter-intuitive to me to use primary colours like this, but somehow it seemed to work!

Oh awesome! Out of curiosity why are primary colors counter-intuitive?Β

LiamRSharp In reply to Cirprius [2015-03-09 22:47:04 +0000 UTC]
Mainly because they generally clash. If you want a unified theme in an image, or to create a certain mood, throwing every colour at it generally isn't going to work. A more red palette might suggest intense anger. Blues and blacks suggest foreboding. Yellow and you're looking at brightness and joy. Mix the three up and it's a big conflict of visual signals - as well as lacking any subtlety!
It may actually be the complete lack of subtlety that makes this work actually.

Holy cow. You just taught me something new and incredibly exciting about story telling in picture format. I think you're right about the lack of subtlety making this picture work. That might actually be why everything looks so intense and eye catching.Β
