Description I made a fantribe! This one has been cooking for a while, I just hadn’t got round to updating the art and didn’t want to share the old reference. Feel free to use this tribe with credit! ( btw I know other people have made tribes using this name, but I figure that as I made this independently and the designs/ lore are different enough, it’s okay!)

Weatherwings were once widespread across much of Pyrrhia’s forests and mountains, but were pushed out of much of their former range by their stronger and more aggressive SkyWing neighbours. The tribe now occupies the most north eastern tip of the Claws of the Clouds, and frequently engages in territorial disputes with the sky wings, whose palace lies near the border.

Weatherwings are a small and loose tribe. While they have a royal family, they are more akin to a clan than a kingdom. Weatherwings live in caves in the mountains and cliffs or treehouses called eyries. Weatherwings culture is simple, revolving around the weather, seasons, agriculture and hunting. Weatherwings are generally not agressive, and keep an army for defence rather than conquest. While they are generally very down to earth, they also love contests, and will host festivals whenever the going is good where they will hold races and art competitions.

Each adult dragon must be involved in food production in addition to any other profession or hobbies. Weatherwings are very skilled at cultivating crops and highly knowledgeable about fauna and its relationship to the weather. Only Leafwings have a more advanced understanding of plants. Dragons are sorted as either a farmer/gardener or a fighter/hunter at maturity depending in their breath. Water breathers tend to plants, while Lightning spitters work as hunters or in the millitary. Some dragons dislike this rigid job allocation, and will leave the tribe to find work else where on the continent.

Weatherwings can either spit water or lightning, and these abilities are highly heritable. Each water breather has a unique temperature of water, ranging from plumes of snow, to very hot blasts. Neither extreme of temperature makes a very effective weapon however, like fire of frost breath would. While waterbreathers can use their ability from hatching, lightning spitters must first charge up by flying into a storm, so may not be able to use their ability until later. Around one year of age, Weatherwings grow long whiskers that fully develop around 5 years of age. These function similarly to Silkwing antennae, and the dragons can use them to predict weather a few days or weeks in advance, depending on the dragon’s experience and the weather’s severity.

These abilities are what makes Weatherwings such good farmers. They can protect crops from flash floods and drought, while keeping them at the correct temperature with their water. They can grow plants from many areas, leading to a very diverse diet and their love of food. Weatherwings can thrive in most temperatures, but do best in low humidity.
