Description For months the dogs had prayed for rain and rain never came, that was until one day................
It started off lightly barely felt against the coats and the dogs of Zonje following relished it it made a refreshing change from the heat of the day and some thanked their god for the miraculous rain, but this was short lived when it became a heavy deluge and a commotion could be heard in the distance.
Fotis was woken up he stretched his head cocking wondering what the noise was before he heard news that people were drowning he got to his feet and shook himself before running out of the door making his way to the source of the sound which seemed to be coming from the fighting pits.
There he saw slaves tied to their posts barely able to keep their heads above the water and they were tied down!
He growled and jumped into the water gasping as the turbulent waters threatened to send him under too but he struck out swimming as best as he could to reach one of the stricken aΒ  light tan dog with even lighter markings.
He managed to bite through the strap holding him and grabbed him by the scruff and the head collar helping him swim it was slow work seeing as he was weighed down by the weight of the slave but thankfully the slave did his best to swim and he managed to keep both their heads above water he knew that the slaves limbs might be cold and stiff from being in the water too long so assisted him in anyway that he could.
Β He could feel his own limbs starting to tire as he struck out for land it seemed a longer distance than he had thought, he started to breathe heavy as he helped the slave along it was not long before the slave became too exhausted his condition not the best and he nearly went under Fotis preyed to Zonje that they would make it and kept the slaves head above the water using his strength and stamina to get the poor dog back to land.
He gently lowered him to the drier ground and stood their panting hard his sides heaving as he looked down at the slave he seemed not to be moving so Fotis gave him a light nudge with his head and the slaves eyes opened slightly and the dog gasped for air.
Fotis panted hard his sides heaving as he looked down at the slave his tail giving a tired wag and he smiled lightly.
"Don't worry your safe just rest now."
With that the tricoloured hound mix lay down on the ground himself next to the slave waiting for his breath to steady before he braved the waters once more to rescue another one of the unfortunate dogs.
