Description

Nuli is known as an ancient Rito Chieftess who was regarded to be the most dangerous Rito of Hyrulean History, if not just the most vicious leader of her kind.  She had no high status in her ordinary life other than being among the few existing female Rito warriors of her time.  She was short-tempered and sharp-tongued, especially as a fledgling, which is not common with younglings of her tribe.  Some say she was raised poorly growing up, but the reality proved otherwise.  Many say she behaved so harshly because it was part of her nature and was simply born with it since she wasn’t neglected.  She aspired to be a warrior like her father and uncle, so she trained herself in various fighting styles to prove herself to be just as capable as a Rito Warrior as the male majority.  Her father was against this, but did not go out of his way to prevent her so.  He was more worried about her safety due to the mentality of the times; Males are responsible for combat, while Females do the more passive work such as gardening, healing, and raising the young.

During adulthood, Nuli continued her training in combat and pushed harder and harder in strength until her powers were unlocked suddenly appeared, destroying one of the dummies she was attacking, much to her surprise.  Unfortunately to her, several Rito and travelers took notice of the fuchsia pink aura and light that came from her.  This alarmed her family and the higher-ups of the Rito hierarchy, exposing her activities and caused suspicion in the common villagers.  Despite her explanations, many still were giving narrow eyes for multiple reasons, may it be jealousy, being cursed, gaining it through dark devotions with an ulterior motive, etc.  However, this intrigued the old Rito Chieftain and informed of a legend of the sealing of Calamity Ganon, which involved the Hylian Princess Zelda from many generations before having special sealing powers.  Nuli wondered if she was chosen for a special destiny, despite being claimed as cursed by the villagers.  She remembers about the tales of a Rito Sage named Medli, and wondered if she was chosen to be the next Sage.  However, she does not believe she is anywhere related to her.

Nuli was later anointed as a second-in-command to the Chieftain, but Nuli refused to approach the Hylian King for she was aware of the fact one of the predecessors forced the Sheikah into exile or to abandon their magic and technology, so she believes she would be forced to not use her own power out of fear, even when it comes to protecting her people.  After her discussion with the Chieftain, they decided to never let the King know of her powers’ existence, at least not at the moment.  Later on, she offered to train the new warrior apprentices in learning new combat strategies and techniques, but not without having her usual brusqueness in the process.  While sounding unkind and harsh, she regardless inspired many warriors to become the fiercest and strongest Rito of Hyrule history.  Although she is proficient in hand-to-hand engagement, she still struggles to be skillful in using her Luminous Bow.  This bow made from Luminous Stones is nearly lost in time and only ancient paintings depict the vague details of it; specific structures are kept vague with traces of bright colors and methods of its creation are unknown to today’s crafters.  Whenever she had free time to spend, Nuli would journey to the faraway mountains to practice her powers further until the day she created a new skill or technique which came to be known as “Nuli’s Radiance” and “Nuli’s Fury,” which one involves her eyes and body glowing of pink aura, rapidly flying into the air in pink streaks and diving down to slam to the ground, creating an explosive blast, and going into a temporary violent takedown spree until her pink aura disappears; and the other including the spree after a sweeping scatter of bulletlike magic projectiles that covers her current range.  However, these dangerous techniques are rarely seen in a daily basis and are only seen in situations while she and her forces are at a severe disadvantage in battle.  Because of its hazardous nature, specific knowledge and information of them are either scarce or were lost to time as a result of Nuli not wanting anyone else to learn them after her and wanting to protect her people (in an ironic sense), knowing that someone would develop it into a weapon that will endanger all life.  Despite the efforts, a small fraction of her powers remain within her descendants in the coming many millennia, including the future Rito Champion in an Era where her influence in the Rito society is little and the Royal Family has more mutual ties with the Rito.  This fraction became “Revali’s Gale.”

Following her assumption of new leadership, Nuli was later known as the most vicious leader due her leadership based on offense stategies and her forceful accomplishments such as claiming more territory in the Hebra province up to the day the Rito settled at the rock spire that later becomes part of the structure of Rito Village in the centuries after her reign.  While her predecessors are more diplomatic and passive in territory claiming and leadership, Nuli strives in a more violent and physical method of leadership.  Because of her immense Rito pride, she does not view other races as equals to her own, so she prohibits hybrid creation and individuals who are other than Rito to step anywhere near the village, if not the claimed territories, sending many patrols to each corner of the area once more and more Rito were anointed as full-fledged warriors.  The fact that she became leader and had powers as part of her arsenal along with her known fighting skills made her a more ambitious Rito and would not hesitate to compete with her rivals and enemies with her magic in order to take what she and her people want without question.  Her reputation became widespread and very well reached the Hylian Royal Family, which caused concern and fear in the Hylians, so the Royal Family sent a force of strong soldiers to take Nuli down, but to no avail and Nuli led them to violent and disintegrating deaths.  The fury of the violent Chieftess proceeded to the castle with haste, approached the king at the time up front in the throne room filled with prepared guards, and demanded him to stay away and keep his people away from her own and her territory so no more lives of each side will be lost, then swiftly fled back to her home in a blast of pink aura filled smoke.

Much to her fury, more Hylian soldiers and Lizalfos started raids on the Rito Village in order to get rid of her, knowing that Nuli can be a major threat to Hyrule.  Thanks to their ability of skill aerial combat, the Rito are swift enough to dodge and incapacitate their enemies with their weapons and melee techniques and drive them out of the village, but not without damage to their home’s construction.  Through her rage, Nuli outright committed bloody massacre after using her perilous “Radiance” and “Fury,” murdering many of her enemies without mercy, but some of her fighters were unfortunately caught in the crossfire, getting killed in the crossfire.  Due to the mass slaughter, many wives, husbands, children, and other relatives and friends of the fallen feared Nuli much more, rather than simply respect her for her power and deeds.  The dark plumed Rito took notice of the major damages made to her people, she later disallows her people from joining her in combat in the later invasions and large battles in the coming years.  After her decision came into effect, she fought the coming invaders with her powers alone, multiplying the high risk percentage of getting captured or subdued, dead or alive.  However, since the Hylians abandoned capable Sheikah technology that could have countered her magic centuries before, she always found her way through the wreckage alive and kicking, but not without flair.

Very often after battles and hunts, Nuli would come back covered in some splatters of blood, whether by accident or not (Nuli you reckless dum-dum).  Because she prefers meat rather than fluids or plants with the exception of herbs and medicine, she frequently goes out to hunt for boars and deer, and occasionally wolves and monsters.  She has lack of faith in deities and is heavily against using healing crystals or crystals used for magical properties, for the same reason she did not want most of her techniques recorded.

While Nuli relies on her prickly shell to enforce power and not rupture her infamous image, she does indeed show a softer side with fledglings, not as snappy and ill-tempered towards them compared to Rito adults.  She does not find the need to act so harsh on young ones for the mental and emotional safety of the apprentice-to-be’s.  The Chieftess is more passive around them and is not afraid to talk to them.  Despite her slightly welcoming vibe towards young fledglings, she is seen to be feared by ones that spot her aggressive side.  Her accomplishments, pride, and powers inspired some of the females to desire to train as Warriors.

Her social life wasn’t the best outside of her job of Chieftess and does not have interest in relationships with either gender due to her stubbornness, devotion to her job, and her self-importance.  She frequently shows respect to Healers and Inventors, but is not as much so with Fighters depending on rank.  As she started to age, Nuli ponders how she can continue her legacy and reluctantly chose to have a child with the strongest willing Rito Warrior (Who also has some skill of a Healer) available instead of choosing a second-in-command first.  During the pregnancy, she chose another Rito Warrior of the same category to take charge of most of the in-village duties.  Neither Rito names were known in scriptures, despite the Warriors chosen would not have minded to be known, for their names were lost in time along with the information of her weapons and some of her powers.  Strangely, there were very little skirmishes during the pregnancy, although there was only one she was taking care of during the early stages of her pregnancy.  After her daughter hatched, the Chieftess named her “Qiuli,” her name relating similar to her own.  After the hatching, Nuli resumed her duties along with her second-in-command, who continued raising Qiuli, retaining her image and her leadership lasted until her passing, her right-hand man succeeding her.  Throughout the later millennia after her death, the Rito Chiefs after her made many changes in Rito history that led to the Rito becoming mutual with the Hylian Royal Family, but still kept the legacy of Nuli alive in name, legends, art, and scriptures.]

OH...  MY...  GOD that was a long bio to type.  I actually posted this here not even long after finishing it and omg it was painful for me to describe WHY she was regarded as the most dangerous Leader of Rito History.  The idea of Nuli being the distant ancestor of Revali was not part of the main info about her that I planned until I saw the similarity of one of her techniques and Revali's Gale a day ago (This bio started around last week or so), so the thing I felt could have been most logical was make them related.  Originally, they were not related.  Why did she have powers?  It could be guessed that she was related to someone with that power, was cursed, or was chosen by the spirit of the ancient Sage Medli.  This character was inspired by Juri from Street Fighter and the Youtuber DigiValentine's video about her kickstarted that inspiration from the immense power down to the colors chosen and fighting passion.  So kudos to him!  InFamous: Second Son was a huge inspiration as well, but I kinda ripped off the moves though.

I have debated to myself about Nuli's name of whether to dub this new character "Fuli," "Nuli," "Illari," or "Illumi."  Despite my mind always calling her "Fuli," I went with either "Nuli" or "Illumi."  Later, I decided that Nuli would be this character's name and Illumi would be an ancestor of Nuli.  I didn't want Illumi to be her sister or current relative alive in Nuli's time because then I would have to make more paragraphs about their relationship and impact in each other's lives and writing Nuli's bio the way it is now was already painful to go through, especially with college shit always bashing my head in with priorities.

Around the time of her creation, I wanted to base the amount of "ponytails" around the concept of 5 since I haven't made many Rito fan characters with that many "ponytails."  So 5 tail feathers, 5 "ponytails," 5 shoulder feathers for Nuli!

Another character I made was named "Hevan," and I wondered if I should make him related to Nuli as another ancestor, but I was like "...... NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Fanart by Me,
Rito belongs to Nintendo
