OH MY GOSH! That is so good. How did you learn to draw so well? I wish I was as good as that!

Amazing.
It really is realistic.

Shading - Perfect
Outcome - Amazing

The only flaw would probably be the ears are a BIT small for the horse.

Other than that, your a true Traditional Artist.

Favorited.

The Arab/Morgan horse looks so gentle, wondering what's over there... and the eyes, he looks kind of sad.. its made me understood what's he is feeling by his facial expressions..But actually he is just deep thinking of what he could do.. or could be spacing out a little by looking out in the field..<3

Incredible shading, but i think that ears are 2 short, heh?

Aye, there are a few problems, but they don't really concern me. The shading practice is what I was after mostly.

You have an excellent understanding of horse's facial muscles. Years and years of practice, eh? It payed off, and paid well. Incredible work.

Thank you I have to say, one of the secrets is having nice clear reference photos to work from. Horses have a lot of muscles and it's impossible to figure out how each look when the horse is doing a specific task or is at a certain angle. Thanks for the vote of confidence, though. I like to think I know at least a decent amount of stuff

Daisaigai In reply to lightstep [2006-03-11 18:51:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, photographs are indeed very, very useful. Horses have so much muscle structure...I looked at a diagram for one before, showing it without the skin, and my mind was boggled.

From what I can see, you have a ton of great stuff.

He really does look like a Morgan, or a Morab, perhaps. I think it's actually a nice change from the typical Arabian without losing much of the sleek, refined qualities we both appreciate.

Thank you I'm trying to get away from shading with my mechanical pencil -slaps wrist- It's a bad habbit, but I'm happy you think this looks so smooth! I actually tried other pencils for this sketch -le gasp-

Just keep practicing. That's the whole key to it. Sorry to sound like an afterschool special, but hard work is the only way to improve. Lots and lots of hard work, and many hours of drawing.

Beatifully done! Great job bringing out the structure in the face. It looks like a morgan, but probably isent b/c it seems whenever I tell someone "oh hey that looks like a....," it usually isent. XD

I actually used an Arabian for this originally, but the proportions seemed really odd from the tilt of the horses head, so I just threw together a bunch of references and hoped for the best Aye, does look like a Morgan, though!

At first look, I thought the white was a hole in the horse... XDDDD

I like the shading around the mouth and above the eye.. very precise, good anatomy. <3

I would never put a hole in my horse, unless it was a swiss cheese horse in which case that would be alright.

Thanks for the comment, though! Always look forward to seeing your lovely green avatar blinking with a comment
