Behold glorious brilliance, hold me in thy embrace.Shine the mirth of your countenance upon me.
The deep slumber of night doth creep and crawl, threatening to engulf us at any moment.
Try as we may, nothing can stay nighttimes icy hand, sent to lead us between the void of worlds.
When the shadows of life are long, when the candle strives to flicker, oh light, forsake me not.
How short is our candle? How long are our days?
Can you answer? Do you know?
With all our strength we strive to repel the frigid embrace of the inevitable,
Yet none may know when that bell shall toll for them.
Only now, right this moment, am I aware of the breath I breathe.
Only now, right this moment, may I impact the streams of time.
For good or ill, I may no longer hold sway over the currents that have past.
And though the light may illumine my being, the path ahead may never be seen.
Nor is there guarantee of a lengthy path to tread.
Woe unto me, should I not live this day with all the vitality I possess!
Weep and wail, should I neglect the gift of the present.
