Description I can't believe I'm submitting... well, I won't call this a tutorial. It's actually just a collection of notes and things I sketched down, which I thought someone else might find helpful.

As you can see, I'm rather lacking when it comes to the male body, and could probably use a few tutorials myself.

Edit: Ok, rather belatedly I'd like to say thank you thank you thank you for the DD, and every single comment/fav!! It's amazing to read that this is actually helping people! Please keep in mind that this is meant only as inspiration- there are a million more body types than the handful I used this method to describe. Do the random combination exercise, reference real people, go out and make the world a beautiful and varied place

A more than merely good look at a problem from which I, too, even as solely a writer, suffer, that of making bodies too similar. That mental exercise is a great discipline to apply before I make the first word of body description in my stories. (Now to apply it, oops.)

I like it and your point about women not being all one size is true. The tips that you gave are good and helpful

Thanks for sharing the notes! Sameface and Samebody have always bothered me ever since I realized that almost every guy in the Dragon Ball series looked the same. Thankfully, I've travelled some distance on the road to overcoming those issues! The female figure on the other hand... has been the bane of my drawing hand for years. So I gratefully accept the aid which you have offered! Thank you!

You know what? It would be awesome if someone could make a set of "body type dice"... like, there would beΒ four dice, one for bust, one for waist, one for hips and one for thighs, and you could roll them to get a random combination which you'd then have to draw... who here would play that game? XD

Why stop at dice? Take a deck of cards, assign a part of the body to each shape and assign different looks of that part to each number and shuffle everything up.

OH! Come to think of it, that would be a lot easier to make than dice... everyone! Go make this! X3

I'm glad to see the "apple" shape included. People AAAAlways forget about the apple shape. Gets pretty disheartening as a female to never see your body shape as an illustration of what "female" is shaped like. Β Thanks for the love!

I have a big problem with stereotyping all sorts of bodies, probably only because I'm too scared to try what I might not be good at. I think I'm still trying to find out who I am as an artist so thanks for posting this. I will definitely think about body types a lot more. : )
