Description
Recent day-trip to Brighton...I shall keep my own critisism of this piece to myself and see what others have to say...
edited in photoshop to correct the colours a bit... (yes, it was even darker than it is now...)

great shot, think it could be even better with a little bit more editing to clear up some of the noise on the full view. (can be so hard on poorlight shots like this)

I don't have any words to express my feelings on this but there is an old song from the seventies called "Cool Change". The lyrics speak better than anything I could say.
Critique (since you are open on it): It took me a long time to accept that I had a right to make a change in what I percieved to be a weakness in the overall image I hoped to capture; if I had been there I would have moved the chair or changed my angle so that the top of the chair became clear of the railing- elimminating a tangent. This is a very tiny thing which may be more my opinion than anything else....my feelings on it remain like the song:
"If theres one thing in my life thats missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Staring at the cool and bright clear waters
There's lots of those friendly people
Showing me ways to go
And I never want to loose their inspiration....Time for
A cool change............"

thank you...
yep - i know what you mean about the position of the chair... I was using my old camera (lame excuse I know) and it was only a little compact so shots like this were kind of hard to see the the view finder and on the lcd display... I wasn't really thinking too much about the shot - there were a lot of people who kept wandering pas and I was getting more and more frustrated with them by the minute... will have to go back and get some more shots...
Thankyou for the song lyrics - I know exactly what you mean...

Thats not a lame excuce at all- I would never have guessed there were people around- don'cha hate when they don't even use the tiniest bit of courtesy and common sense? I've been there and often have been grateful to just get off one (hopefully) decent shot and moved on...In any case the scene is blissfully calm and serene in a restrained way. Super lovely!

Darn 99% of the human race who don't seem to give a rat's bottom about other people... :shakesfist: ... t'was rather irritating to say the least... I need a sign - "Artist At Work" to put up... π: 0 β©: 1 <<
But I guess sometimes it's good to have that little bit of pressure to get the shot taken - sometimes I can spend too long trying to perfect a shot that was perfect before I started getting to fussy...

I see the irony!

Great photo!
The title says it all here, the overcast sky just emphasizes it.

only critique i have is that it's a little grainy, imho, but other than that, it's great

i think if you would have left it darker and made it into a doutone, it might have given more of a lonely atmosphere...
it looks as if somebody's just given up on it all, and jumped in.....

That's the original...
I only edited the colour of the chair and the deck, because there seemed to lack any texture at the bottom of the image...
Thank you

Wow, great shot youve got here Love the foreboading feel you get with this picture due to those huge black clouds out at sea there and really like the way those dark colours contrast with the red and white on the deck chair, great work as always and honestly cant see anything wrong with it
Well done
