Description When surfing online the other day I came across the CD cover art for the beloved children's story, Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White.   As a child, I can recall sitting in my 4th grade class, mesmerized, as our teacher read us a chapter each day. I actually couldn't wait to get to school just so I could hear more. I loved that story (still do lol ) !! !!!

As always, painted by me, and some stock my own resources.

Hah, I was talking with my family about this story just the other day actually... What I especially love about this is that you used an ACTUAL writing spider (orbweaver) for it, which is something that I feel like a lot of people (even the people who made the movies tbh) get wrong. It's really great because I got the reference just from seeing the preview image.

You nailed it! Amazing work.

LOL  Well, Kaline.. tho I'm tempted (very much so ) to just smile and say thanks.. I have to confess, this is something that even I, wasn't aware of until your comment. (also, this is the second time, apparently, that I 'lucked out' with a manip this way in a big way - the first was with 'Ophelia', for which I got the DD for... in that I chose stock, perfect stock, if you will,... without complete foreknowledge of all aspects of the story)
In this work, I knew it was a barn spider, but other than that, I didn't realize there was another name for this particular spider; so I searched for something from memory (in my child's mind's eye) of what I could recall the spider looked like in the pictures in the book, as my fourth grade teacher read it to our class, and showed us the pictures)   Before that, looking at some of the cover-art for the book and video, those spider images shown struck me wrong, for some reason.. lol So I took to Pixabay for stock and when I saw the one I finally did choose, it was because it 'felt right' to me. ( I found the exact spider, one precut at DA, and ended up using that, after having cutting probs with the Pixabay shot)
Anyway, and more importantly, I didn't realize until your comment that this particular spider is also referred to as a 'writing spider'.  Wow, talk about "dumb luck" on my part! !!! (as I did almost choose a black spider, similar to the one on one of the cover art's for one of the videos... But it looked, and felt completely wrong to me. ...
But "writing spider", I (now) realize, is a Very important point to the story! And I'm certain, now having learnt this information, that the Author had to have built the story around this key point. (maybe he assumed most people were also knowledgeable of this particular spider, and its nick-name... but clearly, we all are not! )

Thanks for the lesson, sis! I do Muchly appreciate it! !!!

Oh wow, I had no idea... I thought it was on purpose but actually I think it's even cooler that it was a happy accident. That's amazing! ;w; I love it when things like that happen. It just means your artist instincts are on point, haha! Sometimes, you just know... Yeah DA has some amazing stock available. As for orb weavers, we have them where I live, and they really do write things or draw little patterns in their webs, it's pretty neat. I'm fascinated by spiders but they also scare me. xD

In the book, it says Mr. Zuckerman dreamt that Wilbur had grown until he was 116 feet long and 92 feet tall, and that he had won all the prizes at the fair, including a blue ribbon that had been tied to the end of his tail.  However, a pig's shoulder height is only about half of the length of his or her head and body (excluding the tail), so if Wilbur were 116 feet long, he'd be 58 feet high at the shoulders and weigh 2,800 tons.  If he were 92 feet high, he'd be 184 feet long, not counting his tail, and weigh 11,000 tons.
