Does the fabric neccesarily have to be fleece? I can't afford it but I wanna make it out of something i already have

The first one I made wasn't made out of fleece. I forget what it was, but it was something between fleece and cotton. It was a bit more difficult, but it wasn't too hard. However, I'm making a second one out of fleece and it's much easier.
If you have trouble affording fleece by the yard, I suggest looking through the scraps that most stores have. They're usually leftovers that weren't used and are usually discounted or on clearance. Hope that helps any~

All it would be is the top horns slightly bigger and the tail that extra pointy bit at the top, so not too big an edit but either or it wouldnt feel right without seeing if it was all good with you first!

Question: is it okay if I were to use felt for the body instead of fleece?

you could but felt doesn't really stretch and will wear out while fleece is more sturdy. I'm not much of a fabric expert so I looked it up OwO
