Use gimp ^^, it's a good alternative.
Usually I make my pixels on ms paint, make it transparent and animate it with Gimp C:

I tried to do the sparkles on my own but I can't seem to get my sparkles to shrink ^^U (growing them is no problem though). I'm a noob so could you please explain it to me? o:
