Mei woke fairly early the next morning, it was 7:30am and she was already packing to leave the Pokemon Centre. She thought Mareep would be up early too but no, Mareep was still sound asleep curled up with Vulpix around her. Ivysaur was, infact, the first of them to wake, with a huge yawn and stretch to greet her with.
“ Good morning to you too Ivysaur” Mei said cheerfully pottering around the room with a pair of pajamas for her bag. Out the corner of his eye Ivysaur could see both Vulpix and Mareep sleeping so peacefully. He gave out a smile and sighed.
“What are you so happy about?” Mei asked with a smirk. “It’s not like you at all!” Her head was right next to Ivysaur’s head as she was crouched right next to him. Ivysaur went bright red and shuck his head back and forth.
“Ivy- SAUR!” he cried and waddled off, back to the spot where he had slept. Just as he wondered off, Mei was in deep thought about something. She crawled forward and petted Mareep on her head. “ Ivysaur, I’ve just had a great idea, we should give her a nickname!” Ivysaur’s eyes slowly opened and peered around. He gave Mei a confused look as if to say how on earth did you come to that?
With all of the commotion going on Mareep and Vulpix started to stir in their sleep. First Vulpix blinked a few times and then opened her eyes fully. It didn’t take long for Mareep to wake after that and she soon jumped into Mei’s arms. “Meep” Mareep squeaked and cuddled into Mei.
“Good morning you two, did you both sleep well?” Mei asked still patting Mareep on her head.
“Vulpix! Vul!” said Vulpix still quite sleepy, she crawled away from Mareep and started to stretch. Mei lent over and stroked Vulpix. Vulpix made her space next to Ivysaur.
Mei started to rub her cheek against Mareep. “Oh your so soft, Mareep!” As she cuddled into more and more the most fitting name came to her. “Oh why don’t I nickname you Cotton?”
“Ma-reep!” cried Mareep in agreement. She bounced out of Mei’s arms and onto the floor. She headed over to play with Vulpix.
“I think she likes that name.” Mei said with a grin. She was very pleased Mareep liked it. Mei turned to Ivysaur and petted his head. “Cheer up, Ivy” Mei giggled and watched Ivysaur’s unimpressed face moved from side to side as she petted him. I think I’m enjoying these nicknames she thought.
“Oh and Maple you take care of her when I’m busy, OK?” Mei winked at Vulpix. Vulpix smiled she was happy she gave her a nickname too.
