Description
The FallAs twirling leaves mark Summer slain,
And fading suns are Autumn's gain,
Where tears of gold and avarice,
Leave deep and cold dear Paradise.
As darkness falls on my sweet home,
I dread to think of ancient Rome,
Curtains fall that shade the soul,
Excessive voices take their toll.
In crumbling lands of careless kings,
Where heroes fall as beauty sings,
In wounded towers the voice on high,
Sings as last, the end is nigh.
In dancing glades the trees undress,
To shed their pride, and to confess.
It's here I lie, beneath them all,
And as I die, lament the fall.

I love how you drew the connections between death, autumn, and the fall of Rome-- sometimes I feel like our own time is similar to the fall of Rome. Beautifully written!

Thanks! I thought it was appropriate for this time of year, since the leaves are beginning to fall at my place and the days are getting shorter.
