Description
Lady Periwinkle Whiptail looked at herself in the mirror, adjusting the Egyptian headdress she wore. She was preparing to head to a convention, and had planned on dressing up as Cleopatra for the occasion. A sudden sharp noise from her bed made Peri jump as she was fixing up her costume, and the perentie glanced over. She had recently recieved a new mobile phone, a gift from her friend Sadako Screens. She frowned as she picked it up, still unfamiliar with the technology.
"Hello? Hello, is anybody there?" she said at the device.
A tiny voice replied.
"It is me, Peri."
A face appeared from the side of the screen, Sadako crawling into view.
"I was just letting you know I arrived so we can go to the convention. Can you place the phone down, please?"
Peri nodded and sat the phone back onto the bed. She watched as a tiny figure emerged, pulling herself from the screen. Once free, the figure began to grow. Peri gasped. For a brief moment the perentie thought that something had gone wrong with her friend's entrance, the screen lizard seemingly still fused with the phone. It took Peri a moment to realize that Sadako was in fact wearing a costume, designed to resemble the handheld device.
"What do you think, Peri?" Sadako asked, smiling and curtsying as best she could.
"I, I'm not sure. Why a phone, My Maiden?" Peri asked.
Sadako gave a soft laugh.
"You said to make a costume that best represented myself."
Sadako gave a twirl.
"And what better costume could there be for a screen lizard than something we use to travel and explore the world?"
Peri nodded again.
"You certainly took the concept literally, My Maiden," she replied.
Sadako tilted her head.
"Have I gotten it wrong, Peri?"
Peri smiled.
"Of course not."
She took the screen lizard's hand gently.
"In fact, I think it's very cute and well done."
Sadako smiled as well at the praise. She Looked her friend over, complimenting the princess on her choice of costume too. Together they headed off, eager to get to the convention, and see all the exhibits and stalls. In amongst all the other people dressed in cosplay, the pair were certain it was going to be a day of fun and wonder for sure...
