The Doctor paced back and forth. His frustration and nerves evident in the way he walked. Project Nightmare had not been the success he'd promised to his superiors. He mentally went back over his notes. Surprisingly the problem did not come from Stage One: Ragna-Rok, but rather with Stages Two and Three. For some reason, the psycho-conditioning had not held. Night-Terra and Odin-Rex kept reverting, often at the most inopportune times. The Doctor looked at the large nutrient tank that bubbled nearby. Night-Terra was currently inside. He hoped that by resubmitting her to the last part of the treatment, he could strengthen the original experiment.

Lights on the instrument panels blinked, and the Doctor flicked a few switches. The process was near an end. He began to decant the nutrient tank. As the fluid inside drained, the Doctor got his first view of Night-Terra's new upgrades. The most obvious change was her skin. While still scaly, it had taken on a purple hue. Her face was also different, with the crocodile enhancements now even more pronounced. The small tuft of feathers that had been on the top of her head had grown long, and looked similar to hair. The most impressive change however were her arms. Before they had been slightly longer and ended in three thin fingers, tipped with sharp claws. Now... Now they were a sight to behold. They hung down near her feet, the powerful muscles evident under the skin. At the end were two minute stubs, the remains of her fingers. The claws that tipped them however more than made up for them. Her eyelids fluttered, and opened, bright orange eyes darting about.
"Who are you?" The Doctor asked.
"Night-Terra." She replied.
"Whom do you serve?"
"My Masters of the Dark Egg Legion."
The Doctor smiled. She had answered without hesitation. This time had worked, he was sure of it. This time, she was perfect. Now all that remained was to upgrade Stage Three, and finally, Project Nightmare would be a success.
