Description The coloring may be quick, but the tutorial took a long time to do. TT_TT

Why is this lazy coloring, you ask?
Because 1) there are only two colors and 2) the professionals will scoff if you use dodge and burn instead of layer masks.

Well, I suppose any program wll work, as long as there's a gradient, dodge, and burn tool. The specifics would just change... like whether or not you can have layers. I learned to color mostly with a program called PhotoFinish, way back when. ^_^

Golden-Dragon-Girl [2008-03-15 18:37:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, much lazier than the coloring I do, but it's still artsier. XD I can't get away from cartoonish everything-is-the-color-it's-supposed-to-be, although I admit the mood lighting wouldn't work for many of my projects.

I'm still happy to see this, though. It shall be useful.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lizeth In reply to Golden-Dragon-Girl [2008-03-17 23:33:12 +0000 UTC]

I had to dig through my pile of incomplete art to find a picture that would work with this lighting too. It won't work for all my pics, but when I can...

Toboe-LoneWolf In reply to Lizeth [2008-03-15 17:10:29 +0000 UTC]

...You do all of your coloring via mouse? =O

That makes you even more awesome. Sometimes it feels like if you want to advance/have super pretty art you need a tablet. I mean, virtually 99% of all coloring tutorials are geared for a tablet...

Therefore, you rock. XD So fav-ing this and using it in my next fanart-attempt.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lizeth In reply to Toboe-LoneWolf [2008-03-15 17:38:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I get that impression too. It kinda irks me, actually, especially since I borrowed by friend's tablet once, and it wasn't as almightly as I expected it to be after all the hype ( so disappointed T_T). What it is good for is drawing straight into the computer and coloring things like hair. ^_^

As you can see, my sprites are wobbly in comparison, 'cause I drew them in with a laptop touchpad. My wireless portable mouse doesn't send signals very well and makes me wish for a real mouse. Just make do with what you have, I guess. *sulks*

aigekkeiju In reply to Lizeth [2008-03-16 00:47:03 +0000 UTC]

OMG, I don't have patience using mouse to color. That's why I have two drawings stuck in the base color.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lizeth In reply to aigekkeiju [2008-03-17 23:31:29 +0000 UTC]

LOL. Yeah, hence "lazy coloring". This is designed for mouse-users. It's pretty fast in comparison to real coloring. Even faster if you up the exposure of the burn and dodge tools.
