Description I have moved dA accounts and will no longer be providing support for these brushes.
Ask all the questions you want, but i'm not answering them anymore.

The download button WILL NOT download the brushes! It only downloads the textures you need to use them! You have to actually create the brushes in SAI.

To make a new brush/tool in Paint Tool SAI
Please go read this lovely tutorial provided by DarlingMionette
:thumb162081137:

PLEASE READ IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS USING THESE BRUSHES!!!
Check these things first before you comment:
Are you using a mouse or a tablet?
- If you're using a mouse, please note that the results will not be the same. These are pressure-sensitive brushes and require a pressure-sensitive tablet in order to achieve the result as shown.
What brand of tablet are you using?
- IF YOU'RE USING ANY LINE OF WACOM TABLETS, PLEASE TRY REINSTALLING YOUR DRIVERS FROM THE WEBSITE BEFORE YOU ASK FOR HELP! Reinstalling drivers usually fixes the problem.
Is your pressure sensitivity on?
- Check this by testing it out on one of SAI's default brushes (like "Pen"); if the line doesn't change thickness, then it's not working properly.
- TO FIX THIS:
* Close out of SAI and start it up again
* Reinstall your tablet drivers if that doesn't work (especially if you're using a Wacom)

Final Note: You really don't have to have the settings EXACTLY as I do. Play around with your settings. Don't see this as a "omg you have to do this EXACTLY THE WAY I HAVE", but instead as a guide to help you play around with your SAI settings. Feel free to change these brushes to however you want.

edit June 13, 2013: Updated the preview image so that it shows off the brushes better (and hopefully makes things less confusing when it comes to making them!) .zip download should still remain the same. If the download is broken, please let me know~

How do you install textures...?

there is a short readme included with the download, but basically all you need to do is copy the files from the "blotmap" folder from the download and paste them into the "blotmap" folder in your SAI program files. if you don't know where that is, it'll be under "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)", and you'll need to find the folder that says "Paint Tool SAI" or something similar.

you'll probably have to either reinstall your tablet drivers or google up fixes for your brand of tablet, since i am definitely not an expert in that area, haha.

Which texture in blotmap is the one for the linepen?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lockandkye In reply to crescent-moon123 [2015-04-23 03:56:24 +0000 UTC]

line pen doesn't have a texture.

if you look back at the image, there are a few drop downs in the brush settings that say things like "(simple circle)" or "(no texture)". Β those are your elemap and blotmap settings. if it doesn't list a specific elemap or blotmap, then it doesn't require anything.

so like the cloud brush lists "noise" and "(no texture)", then you'd have to use the noise blotmap included in the download if it's not already installed.

I was wondering if you can help me? I've ran out of room on my Paint tool sai thing to make more brushes. So is there a way to make more brushes? Or do I have to erase some?..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lockandkye In reply to Dusk-deerfluff [2015-02-24 22:51:32 +0000 UTC]

I can't help you there, sorry. >:
I'd recommend going through and deleting brushes you don't use if you want to add more. Or you could consolidate some of the brushes that have similar settings and just edit the settings each time you want to use the brush you deleted.

That is exactly the program it's designed for, yes!
Easy Paint Tool Sai, Paint Tool Sai, and Sai are the same program.

For some reason I don't have the 'Noise' option? It just has Spread&Noise.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lockandkye In reply to Micran [2014-04-12 05:16:53 +0000 UTC]

If you download the .zip file, it includes the noise elemap. To install it, you need to extract all the files from the .zip, copy "Noise" and paste it in the "elemap" folder in your SAI program files. If that doesn't make sense, I included a readme in the download folder that explains it a bit better. But if you don't want to do that, I think Spread&Noise can achieve the same effect. c:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lockandkye In reply to catangeltitan [2013-08-25 15:38:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. c: You can double-click on the brush you want to rename, and a box will pop up. You can also set a keyboard shortcut for that key there for faster brush changes~

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lockandkye In reply to Naruonic [2013-07-02 21:33:02 +0000 UTC]

They're pressure-sensitive brushes, so while you can still use them with a mouse, the results may not be the same as what's shown. Some people have said that they can use the cloud brush pretty well with a mouse, but I'm not sure about anything else.

Like I said, you can still use them with a mouse, but I'm not guaranteeing that they'll look or work like what the picture shows. All I can tell you is that you'll have to try it out for yourself, and if it doesn't work, then I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do.

Hello hello~ I'm having trouble understanding as to why my SAI doesn't have Noise and other options within "(simple circle)" - I mean, I have them all already pre-installed and all but I have nothing besides that TT^TT heeeeelpp pweaseeee~~

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

lockandkye In reply to Mikhanator [2013-07-02 21:37:38 +0000 UTC]

So you downloaded the textures and copied them to the correct folders, right? Now you need to find the "start-sai.exe" in the Paint Tool SAI folder and run that. It should automatically search for your new brushes and textures and add them to the program.

The end of this tutorial shows what I'm talking about better, in case I confused you:
:thumb162081137:

Hope that solved your question. c:

That's all you're going to get when you download. It's just the textures, not the actual brushes. SAI isn't like photoshop or gimp where you download certain brush files. You have to manually create and edit the brush settings by yourself. Please read through the description again to find out how to do that.
