We shouldn't feel "guilty" about condemning harm.

Animals are living things too. I beilive to some extent in animal rights. Nkw ever since I was little I have studied and learned so much about animal rights and over the years have mad out the sensible things in animal rights.
Β Β In the comments people think this is a joke and stupid. Its not actually its very serious and I take that way.
Β Now people are saying if animals had animal rights we would have animals in the government. Thats not the case. If you actually have eead the animal rights. Its saying animals should be treated as their own lives not as our property.
Β Β The concept of animal rights is to treat animals live they have there own life.
So before you complain actually read the animal rights.

Ah yes, in the words of marring Luther wing "I have a dream, where frog children can play with human children". Seriously, do you want a horse in Congress.Β

Treating animals with the same respect as humans will give them individual recognition.

Well the Congress-horse part.
Granted, he can only say "Neigh", so he'd have to be in the GOP.
He'd poop all over the place, unabated...again GOP.

Rights and welfare- two completely different things. Treating a dog well and giving a dog human rights are two completely different things.Β
And I'm often amused and just a bit saddened by how selective people can be when they talk about this whole 'animal rights' thing. Do you mean just mean the 'popular' and 'cute' animals? Like Dogs, Cats, Horses, and Rabbits? Would you care (or even know) about the less popular ones like birds, or fish, or such? Crows are social, highly intelligent, and can make/use tools. Yet, I am seeing no 'SAVE DE CROWZ' groups, or am I just looking in the wrong places? The same applies to snakes, lizards, and other reptiles and amphibians. They may not be as popular and 'cute' as a rabbit, but they're still animals, right? So the whole 'rights' thing still applies to them? And what about grasshoppers, and cicadas, and mosquitoes? They're all animals! Would you hold our your arm solemnly to a mosquito and say, 'Dear Mosquito, I respect your right to live and feed on the fluids of my body. Please drink my blood to your heart's content'?Β
Please define what animals you are referring to when you mean 'animal rights'. And also, while you're at it, find the difference between animal rights and welfare. Stopping animal abuse is completely different from giving a cat or a dog human rights. I'm all for taking stray cats out of an outdoors environment where they could potentially harm wildlife and local fauna, and placing them in a safe home, but I will not vote for rights stating that anyone who runs a cat over is a murderer.Β

I agree with this..
A lot of these are more "SAVE THE CUTIES" But it's okay to forget the cows and chickens we eat all day everyday cause they don't fit into the wolfaboo cutie factor.

Yeah :/ And when people go like 'save the wolves!' they always show a photo of a tiny baby wolf. Everything has a stage in its life when its appealing. I can just as well go 'save the bats' and show people select photos of a select species of bat that's appealing to people (e.g. Honduran White) but the cute stuff doesn't cover ALL the other stuff- potential of disease if touched (esp. in larger bats like Flying Foxes) and so forth.
Wolves are nice creatures- sociable, intelligent, and skilled hunters. But that doesn't make them the only animals that deserve protection. There are many species of smaller mammal, many species of bird, and quite a lot of amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates that are in danger. Why don't they deserve protection too?Β

Honduran White is my favorite bat hehe
But I do agree. that there are so many species that are fading away daily.. and no one cares. because they lack the "cute factor" or they're sub species not many people know about.

I don't remember why I made that comment, but this is what an axolotl is.
Edit: Now I remember. Axolotl are almost? extinct in the wild, and not very many people have even heard of an axolotl, but I wish that there were more efforts to preserve them.
*Or they are extinct in the wild... I think there are only 500 in captivity, but it has been a long time since I have seen the article that I read about them.

I have been more or less very concerned about the direction that everything is headed, conservation and ecosystem balance-wise. It's kinda scary thinking that the water is going to get really acidic if the core temperature rises too much.

Yeah :/ Everyone here always says that they're 'animal-lovers' or whatever, but 'animals' seems to only include the horses and cats and dogs. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against horses or cats or dogs, but they seem to be the only animals people actually care about. The same 'animal-lovers' also boast about killing spiders or go 'eww' whenever I show them a picture of an interesting new species of Spiny Mouse.Β

as a vegetarian i often think of the same when it comes to wich animals it's socially acceptable to eat. also have you noticed how when people say "animals" Β the often seem to mean mamals?
π: 0 β©: 1
Cypselurus In reply to siathedragon [2014-03-30 01:31:58 +0000 UTC]
Ah. Yeah, people seem to be fine with eating farmyard animals (like chickens, cows, pigs) simply because they're just so familiar as food. Personally, I really like pigs as the animal- very intelligent, very familiar, and they can make great pets (but only if you know how to cater to their needs). However, tell your friends you ate a wild animal like a zebra or a buffalo, and they'll just stare at you funny. So I think the line is drawn between wild and domestic creatures- typically mammal, but with some birds as well. As for fish, people don't seem to care if you eat wild species- which isn't a great thing, as many wild species are endangered, like certain populations of Bluefin Tuna, and the Orange Roughy.Β
And yeah :/ Not sure why. People often say 'animals and birds' which drives me completely nuts. Birds are animals...

(sorry for the late reply) the thing i mostly experience has to Β do with bugs and other disliked small creatures
i hate how people always crush espeialy when they do it to spite me (i often offer to pick up bugs so other people don't have to and some people hae crushed them infront of me to mock me)
