I made this some time ago : Map Gelea
for fun , to show where i think my human characters would live
and i wanted now to explain a little bit about , from what i had in mind :0
it was really fun to design flags for each part of the kingdom , each island . all dem birds
and having women have their hair in a specific way to show where they come from is a great excuse for complicated hairdo's
mermaids must work hours on their hair
Each of the hairdo's are just examples the hair just need to be parted in a specific number, how doesnt matter
Someone asked if their OC could live in this place so i want to add this : if you want your character to live in this Kingdom , thats no problem , they totaly can ^^
I am working on more background story for Gelea , hopefully i can upload that soon

Sorry if I misunderstood any of the questions but
1 there are a lot of canals going anywhere in Gelea, mermaids can easily come anywhere (where the water is) . They can write outside the water, if they learned to do so.
2 lifespan is the average age a creature can get, of course some can get older (or they die younger), but nothing too extreme, a human simply can't be 200 years old
3 Gelea has newspapers yes
4 merpeople speak the same language and water is everywhere so it's very easy to speak to a merperson
5 exact potion rules aren't written out yet. But potions aren't really strong. I hope to cover it soon

The braid doesn't count as the sixth part, but the hair underneath does ^^ so its six parts yeah

Um is there any port or a jetty at Selia, because one of my characters have a mermaid friend and they meet almost every day.

When a character identifies themself as a woman they do the hair part rule

A woman wears her hair in the amount of parts , where her house is. So even if a woman was born in dreehn , but she moved to Twedon , she would have 2 parts. If she would be in dreehn for a specific time , no matter how long, if her house is in Twedon she would still wear 2 parts . if thats what you mean

I love how the flags resemble a bird, like Enetan is a peacock and Dreehn is an owl. It really looks like you put a lot of thought work into this.

Its like pigtails, in Twedon where the hair is parted in two, youll have two pigtails , in dreehn you would have three etc. The bangs dont count x)
