There's nothing wrong with drawing them as different races. The reality of the world is diverse and not majority white. If you have a problem seeing fictional ponies drawn as people of color,  you're just a bigoted asshole.

I don't think there's anything wrong with them being different races either? I just think it's better attention to detail to make them more accurate to their original design, if you'd like to convince yourself that I'm bigoted because I like the way these designs look the way they are, and think they're, you're free to do so. Also, I'm very aware that there are different races, cultures, and appearances in this world, as I live in it alongside you. Peace be with you.

I completely agree! I don't think it's inherently bad to interpret a character the different way! I point though, was I wasn't a fan of when people will change a character to push a stereotype or change their personality to fit their new given identity. It's like changing a white character to a non-white character, which would be just as upsetting as changing a non-white character to a white character. That was all I intended to say, and I meant no ill-will.

I don't think you understand what they're trying to explain. They're saying that sometimes people focus too much on making something diverse racially instead of making characters distinct without diversity being the main focus. Diversity is in culture, ideas, etc, not in skin colors used for a character, and I feel that the color of a character's skin is irrelevant to whether or not I enjoy them. In my opinion, the main problem stems with focusing on diversity in racial appearance rather than diversity in culture, ideas, etc. For example, a story taking place in Japan will have a lot of Asian individuals and not a lot of other races because Asian individuals will be more commonly seen there. That doesn't mean the creator of this story is racist against non-asians, it means their keeping their setting in mind.

Anyways, back to the main point, I think they're trying to communicate that they're glad the creator didn't overly focus on making their skin colors different, not that they didn't make them different in skin colors.

if the color of a character's skin was truly irrelevant, whites wouldn't get so angry about black characters, especially fictional character being portrayed as black.

we don't live in a post-racial society sadly and most likely never will because racism prevails amongst people of caucasian descent. that's why it's important to me to see characters that have brown skin and more like i do. the truth is, most people only identify with those that look like them, and are are only willing to empathize with those that look like them. white people are the biggest perps of this but always hypocritically shouting "race doesn't matter stop talking about it" when we call out racism. Only for it to suddenly matter when a character they liked is made black. the irony is rich

Fair enough. Still, at least to myself, I feel race shouldn't be relevant to a character, but I understand that in society a lot of people still need that representation to some extent. It's reasonable.

Also, funnily enough, Tumblr people are a big perp of stupid logic of making white characters darker okay and making dark characters lighter unacceptable. It's hilarious.

i don't like hypocrisy of any kind. if its culturally relevant for a character, like thor, to be white, they should be white.

if a fictional pony is drawn as a black person, there's nothing wrong with that. there's nothing that needs to "make sense" about that. a humanized pony can be any race.
