Description
I COULD MURDER A CURRY- Mort
Lots of quotes from Discworld Death, but I couldn't really go past this one.
It's part of Terry Pratchett's genius that he could make the grim reaper one of literatures more fascinating characters.

He's such a fantastic character and appears in nearly every Discworld book... so you have plenty more of him to look forward to

I find the implications of that statement darkly hilarious.Β "In nearly every Discworld book, something or somebody's gonna die." XD

βPicture a tall, dark figure, surrounded by cornfields...
NO, YOU CAN'T RIDE A CAT. WHO EVER HEARD OF THE DEATH OF RATS RIDING A CAT? THE DEATH OF RATS WOULD RIDE SOME KIND OF DOG.
Picture more fields, a great horizon-spanning network of fields, rolling in gentle waves...
DON'T ASK ME I DON'T KNOW. SOME KIND OF TERRIER, MAYBE.
...fields of corn, alive, whispering in the breeze...
RIGHT, AND THE DEATH OF FLEAS CAN RIDE IT TOO. THAT WAY YOU KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE.
...awaiting the clockwork of the seasons.
METAPHORICALLY.βΒ

I love Death's library's description of the dangerous and non-dangerous flora and fauna of XXX (not..., really NOT Australia!) in THE LAST CONTINENT..., the former being a huge pile of books that bury poor Death, the latter being a single sheet of paper reading 'some of the sheep'!

Some authors write that one memorable character.. and if they are lucky, maybe two.
Terry wrote so many of them... and yes, his Death is one of the best.

Like you, so many wonderful Death quotes, but this one definitely sticks in my mind the most.
Perhaps the scene of the Four Horseman outside the bar in Sourcery.
"My steed has carried armies. My steed has carried cities. Yea, he hath carried all things in their
due time," said Death, "but he's not going to carry you three."

Haha! Great quote!
Terry DID like his four horsemen of the Apocalypse: they road out in at least four of his books that I can remember.... Sourcery, Thief of time, Interesting Times, Good Omens...Β

Sourcery always cracks me up with the Four Horseman, with ordering their drinks ("A Bloody Mary."
This voice made a simple drinks order sound like the opening of hostilities.) and then drunk outside
the inn after Death rides off.
Gotta love Death and the other Horseman of the Apocralypse!

Yes, most definitely a great movie (and book, though I watched the movie first, it was what got me interested in the discworld). By the way did you here that BBC America just green lit a series based on The City Watch.

βI? KILL? said Death, obviously offended. CERTAINLY NOT. PEOPLE GET KILLED, BUT THAT'S THEIR BUSINESS. I JUST TAKE OVER FROM THEN ON. AFTER ALL, IT'D BE A BLOODY STUPID WORLD IF PEOPLE GOT KILLED WITHOUT DYING, WOULDN'T IT?βΒ
Ahh, look at that friendly face youβve drawn!Β Β
I just love how Terry Pratchett was able to make Death such a lovable character, pointing out the very issues we mortals struggle with. And he loves cats so he canβt be such a bad guy, Β right?
