Description
This was inspired by ~bmson 's experiment called "Flash Blob" ( [link] )I really enjoyed the effect and I figured I would take my own shot at it, and I came up with this.
[EDIT 1]
Upped the FPS rate, optimized some code, and contrained the ability to pull it to only within the box.

Damn diggity this is awesome!!!
Kick ass job on the scripting bug guy, drawing API I presume. . . .

Yay, another favorite
And yes, 'twas the drawing API, except for the text. I didn't want to increase the file size too much by importing the fonts (and I wasn't about to draw those via the drawing API ).
And lol at the bug guy... I have so many nicknames because of that now.

Lower the gravity (ie slower motion), that would be cool. Also, what if you made it change colors? That would be fun too.

While playing with the code I have experimented with all sorts of various speeds of motion, the current speed is the one I enjoyed the most, but i'm still not done so you never know.
And having it change colors will most likely make it too processor intensive, especially having colors fade into eachother. And if you mean like gradients (via beginGradientFill()) then screw that...lol, I don't feel like dealing with all that, i'm lazy!

You sure did, thank you. I had a ton of fun messing around with this trying to get it to work right.
And as for that link, another very nice effect you got there, reminds me of the 3M tabs that you put on the wall to hang stuff up and to get them down you need to pull the tab down until they snap off.
Maybe I will try and imitate that as well Actually I don't think I will, but you never know I might get bored or something and give it a whirl
I visited your site, you got some very nice experiments, i've done a few similar ones myself in the past. One thing you do with your experiments that I don't is make them look nice visually, like you dress it up. I try to dress mine up to make them look better but they always just end up not looking so good :-\

you're welcome... you might've just inspired me to take a closer look at the whole drawing API thing

The drawing API in Flash, although weak compared to others, is still quite powerful and incredibly useful. I used practice it by creating an entire experiment out of the drawing API so nothing is on the stage or in the library, but now I think I got a good enough handle on it

Hey Lost, that's a pretty slick effect for such a short amount of time put into it. Keep it up.

Well you know me electrongeek, if it isn't quick and dirty it's slow and sensual....

this.shutUp();

Indeed it is a very nice effect, but the Bounce is a little rough.. Smoothe it out and it'll be all but perfect Indeed, perhaps tweak the amount that the darkness is pulled relative to where it's grabbed.

It's actually about only 20 minutes worth of work so a lot of it could stand to be optimized, I will take your suggestions to mind when I am working more on it.
