Thanks, The shell I sculpted first with polymer clay, then made a silicone mold of that, then cast it in brass. The whole thing ends up being quite a long process. But awesome results.

The results are very awesome, yes. I thought for a moment it was sculpted, but in your description it said brass and I couldn't think of how some one could sculpt brass. I never thought it was cast. >_<; I guess I was in too much of an "OOOOO shiney and awesome" state of mind even think of casting.
A lot of work but man, the result is so worth it.

The cogs I use in my jewelry all come from unworking watches. They gotta be the old school ones though, that wind up.
