Description
This is a unique one. Why? There are only 4 remaining Seafire Mk XV's left worldwide. This one is super unique? What makes this one more special than the other three? This one is airworthy. I wasn't made privy to the rarity of this bird until this month's issue of Sport Aviation.

That's pretty cool, what's the major difference between this and the Spitfire?
BTW, Do you have any photos of the Hawker Typhoon?

Nah, didn't see the Typhoon at Oshkosh, sadly.
The major difference? Heh, look at the wing. This was meant to be operated off of an aircraft carrier. It also had a gigantic engine by comparison to the Spitfire to get it off those short decks.

Ah, so it has a 4 bladed prop instead of a 3 blade.

Spits first had a 2 bladed prop (Prototype and early Mark Is), then 3 (Mark I, II and V), then 4 (Mark VI - XI and Mark XVI), 5 (Mark XII, XIV-XX) and a few had a 6 bladed counter-rotating prop (2x 3 bladed props with one in front of the other, rotating in opposite directions)
The Seafires had a similar evolution in terms of props, they just never had a 2 bladed prop

The counter rotating prop has been around since the 20's.

I'd at least assume that because the first picture of a plane with counter rotating props was an amphibious float plane used in aerial races, with an all metal body and it was photographed in 1922.

I can't remember I was reading about it out of a library book that I had checked out from my old high school library way back when I was a freshman.

The Early Seafires actually had Merlins (The first Seafires were actually just converted Spits). When the Spits got Griffons so did the Seafires

Ok, thanks. My knowledge extends mostly to Mikoyan Gurevich's stables and I know next to nothing about British aircraft.

That's all right. I know next to nothing about Russian aircraft, apart from what I've gained from flying them in the game IL-2 Sturmovik
