Description
(Wy proverb)I knew what was happening, I had read about it in Australia’s library. Whenever a disaster occurred, us, the personifications of our nation would suffer along with the people of our country, the more of the land and our people that suffered the worse the impact. But I had never seen it actually happen before. Australia’s normally soft tanned face was white as a sheet, his hand clutched at his chest and his breathing had become ragged and shallow. I glanced at Korea and he seemed just as terrified as I was. I didn’t know what to do. Suddenly Australia started to make horrible choking sounds just as if he where drowning and collapsed from the chair. Doubled over on the kitchen floor he let out a cry of agony. I tried calling out his name but he wasn’t responding.
He covered his mouth with his hand and gagged, a strange fluid seemed to seep from between his fingers. He took his hand away only to reveal he had coughed up a horribly large amount of blood. “Oh god! Some one help! New Zealand! Get in here!” My hands started shaking and terror ran through my body like wild fire. “What do I do? What do I Do?!”
(Back to Australia.)
I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t even move without sendin’ another surge of pain through my body. I felt like I was drownin’, my lungs and head hurt as if I was trapped under a wall of water. Through clouded eyes I looked up at Wy, her normally cool and composed expression had turned to that of panic and fear. Tears started to stream down her face. She was shoutin’ somethin’ but my hearin’ had been replaced by a loud high pitched ringin’ that was growin’ louder by the second. I knew the next wave of pain was goin’ to hit me even harder than the last. I placed my hand on Korea’s shoulder and begged him to take Wy out of the room.
(South Korea proverb.)
His voice was so hoarse I could hardly understand what he was Saying, but thankfully I could tell from the look in his eyes he did not want to see his micro nation panicking like she was. I did not want to leave Australia alone in the state that he was but thankfully Australia’s brother New Zealand had heard Wy’s screams and rushed to Australia’s side.
“Bro! Bro! Stay with me now! Come on bro! Breathe!” This was my chance, I stood up, took the terrified principality by the arm and spoke in the calmest voice I could manage.
“Come. There is nothing we can do to help him right now.” She struggled against me though.
“No! I can’t leave him!” New Zealand turned his head to me and nodded, giving me permission to take her from the room. I wrapped my arms around her waist and lifted her off the floor, taking her with me as I continued toward the door.
“No! No! NO!” She struggled and fought me the whole way but I only let her go once we were out of the room, even then I stood in front of the door knob to prevent her from going back inside. Suddenly Australia’s pain filled screams started to echo through the house. “AUSTRALIA!!!” Wy beat her fists against my chest in futile attempt to get back into the kitchen. Then as the cries subsided Wy buried her head in my chest and broke down crying. For a while I just stood there, holding her in my arms, hoping that Australia would be all right.
(New Zealand Proverb.)
Oz (and me) had gotten attacks like this before. They were often caused by bush fires and were small, the hurt could easily be lessened with a painkiller or two, but he hadn’t had one as bad as this in a while.
As soon as Korea and Wy left the room, My Bro’s hands covered ‘is head. ‘ is eyes growing wide at the shock of agonizin’ pain that tore thru ‘is body.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!! GGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!” As ‘is pained screams filled the room the only thin’ I could do was wrap my arm around ‘is shoulders and try tu calm ‘im. My bro then started tu gasp for air, each breath seemin’ tu rip though ‘is throat like a dagger, desperately he clinged tu me as he hacked up yet another pool of blood ontu the floor.
I couldn’t ‘elp it, tears of worry flooded my eyes and I cupped ‘is face in my Hands.
“Come on bro, fight it! I know you’re tougher than this.” My heart almost skipped a beat when just for a moment he pulled out of ‘is pain stricken daze and gave me a soft reassurin’ smile. ‘Is large figure almost completely engulfed me as ‘is arms enclosed around my small frame. He rested ‘is head on my shoulder and ‘is breathin’ became more even. We stayed like that for what seemed like hours until I finally felt my bro start tu lose consciousness. Holdin’ him in my arms like I was, I ended up gently rockin’ him back and forth, shakily hummin’ the lullaby he use’ to sing to me when I ever got scared or too frightened tu sleep.
An Auzzy lullaby
Hay little possum up a tree,
dinkydie Auzzi mate to me,
Come on down now don’t be scared
the dingo’s teeth are no longer beard
I heard that dreamland‘s a sight to behold
With a purple sky and a land of gold
As night draws near you’ll close your eyes
And we’ll hop on a rainbow snake and fly
You’ll be safe by my side
