Well, my idea for the species is that they are a mammalian/fish creature; I was undecided but I though that maybe the form on the left is their usual form, and most will be born like that and the other form is a more wild/feral form that is very rare; though many are able to shift into the other form (some will not have the ability to change, and will stay in their feral or anthro form only.)
I thought that they would be a mainly carnivorous species, eating meat or fish, but they can eat anything.
I assume they would like to live in a place very close to water, somewhere like a beach cave, a forrest or by a lake.
As for colourings, I guess anything would go but maybe the males and females would have varying shades, and maybe environment (e.g, amount of light they get, how often they are in water, etc) could have changes on that too?
These are just my random ideas I had when I made them ^-^ you can make up anything for them (make sure to highlight important info for the species sheet in bold or something), and I'll also throw in some extra drawings - maybe of different variations or features they can have that you decide :3
