Impressive... must impressive!
How do you use the graphite powder or when do you used?

I use the graphite powder for all of the shading...
I apply it with a paint brush much like you would paint. I dab a bit on the brush and use a piece of paper to work it into the brush, then brush it on the drawing in layers from light to dark. From barely having any graphite on the brush for the light parts to having a heavy amount for the dark parts.
The brush acts as a delivery for the graphite as well as a blending tool. I must note: this techique is best used in for large format pieces. Its very dificult to use the brushes on a small piece as you simply can not get the detail on in small areas with the brush.

I have nothing but respect for someone who can create something this wonderful without being able to 'undo'. Amazing work.

Nothing new, other then paying more attention to the dark areas and actually putting in the shadow. I found that drawings that also include the background and shadows tend to look more realistic.
I just picked up an air brush and will be practicing with it to do all my dark shadings...
wish me luck

Yeah, I guess I have gotten away from that part a little lately myself. I just like how sharp everything looks on this one of yours. I have a lot of work to do to get back there I guess...
What kind of brush did you get? I use Aiwata BCS's, and have a Terry Hill model Sil-Air compressor I use for t shirts, and a Badger compressor for little things.

Its an Aiwata, but not sure what model. It was pretty much a starter kit with everything for arround $60.00 haven't fired it up yet. Been to busy with my music, but I will pick up and easel this weekend and start practicing with it.
I found the compressor at a yard sale for around $15.00 and couldn't pass it up.
The brushes are synthetic fiber brushes... some cheap ones from the art supply. The synthetic ones seem to hold the graphite better.

Aiwata's are great brushes, very durable and sturdy...the only problem I have is that they are pretty specialized, so finding replacement parts for me is a pain...check out a place called BearAir.com if you haven't already, the book is like an artist's porn I swear.
Compressors are great, especially if they are cheap, but remember to watch for the moisture, I have a moisture catcher on the big one i have, but the little ones are pretty safe, not too much storage on those.
Oh, I refer to my airbrush as a brush...always have. And I know, I really REALLY have to get back into that, it was soooo much fun to use...

anytime...you'll find out, (if you haven't already) that at first, it may be hard to get used to, but soon, you are just gonna love airbrushing, and wonder why you haven't done this sooner. (God, I really got get mine going again...)
