We've only made one burn so far...may be a few years before we make it back to Black Rock City.

It's a pity we didn't go this year...we did have a solar-powered travel trailer the year we did go.

I'm still working out what artwork I'll do this year. I have a more ambitious installation planned, but I want to attend one burn first for the experience. How did you deal with the dust and your cameras ?

I took my Canon 1Ds (mark I)...I put on a 28-135mm zoom and never changed lenses while I was there.

I put it in a 1 gallon Ziploc (tm) and kept all my photo stuff in a camera bag when not in use.

The camera and lens never really got dusted. What was funny was that while Dee was chained to the desert floor for "Say Cheese", there was a dust storm coming. As soon as we were done shooting, my spotted (of course, I had a spotter with me) saw the dust coming.

He yelled "Dust storm!" and went to Dee to cover her face with a cheesecloth. The whole time she was yelling "Save the camera, save the camera!"

Of course I just zipped the camera into it's plastic bag and everyone was safe.

It's an agonizing dilemma...it's the worst place to take your camera, and one of the best places in the world to take photos...

Talk about a predicament...
