Truthfully he didn’t even believe he was fit to raise a pup. Andorh figured he’d take care of him for a few days while he looked for blood-relatives or a better suited guardian. Benji and Ilkay had adopted before, they’d know better than anyone how to raise a child, perhaps they wouldn’t mind one more member of the family. That night though as Laurence and him settled down to sleep as he curled up close by him. An unfamiliar protective nature rose to the surface and sat heavy in his chest.
How could he just hand him off as if dusting leaves from his fur! It would’ve made him no better than the wolf who left him in the meadow to begin with. He was all Laurence had in this world, it wouldn’t have been right. Not just that though he had already grown attached as well from the moment he found him. All Andorh cared about was making sure he was safe.
It wasn’t going to be easy and he didn’t expect it to. There was a lot he would need to change and so much to learn. He’d do it though, he wasn’t one to quit when things got rough and in the end it would be worth it. Laurence was worth it. (215)
