Excellent . I haven't read the Graphic Novel, but the movie was excellent, and Rorschach's character was quite good. Thanks for sharing this rendition

I love it, only because it immediately made me think of all of the emotions I felt while watching the movie. I sadly hadn't heard of it until it was coming to theatres and my insanely dorky best friend flipped out over it. I loved the movie, now I just want to read the comic.
Love what you did with it.

Mm, I can see the special fabric ala heat and pressure squeezed between two layers of latex. It's good, and simple, and he is the most incredible hero I have ever had the opportunity to admire. You touch upon his psychological issues, and right wing views, but for a hero to be effective, can they really be all that liberal? Vigilantism is about breaking due process and eking out justice your way, not the way of the government, which is a very republican view in the classical sense. Rorschach really is standing right next to Wolverine and Frank Miller's sixty something Batman for my top masks.

I completely agree! What an insightful comment. Although in terms of liberalism I didn't mean that he should be one - more like how many liberals admire a deeply right-wing vigilante, hatred of women and homosexuals and all of that.
And aye, he is definitely one of the most masterfully created characters, and a pleasure to read about.

Indeed, and though he criticizes Veidt after he informs him of the mask-killer theory partially by calling him ignorant, and partially by describing him as a possible homosexual, it isn't actually that strictly voiced by Rorschach that he hates homosexuals. Really I never even see him criticizing women, though he does act a bit patronizing with Laurie in those early chapters. He is a rightist, but at least he's there to get a job done, not join politics. He also doesn't go about on killing sprees in gay bars and the sort, so at least he's semi-tolerant, hah.

From what I understood, he hates women since his horrible childhood. But yes, he does expend his energy on actually productive things.

It may be more conjecture than fact, but that's the impression I always got - that he thinks women are all whores.

Nah, it was `disintegration and I know he's a huge fan of the comics.
But yeah - those people - my brother is one of them. I was sitting next to him in the theatre and he kept going hur hur hur over the blue penis. And commented on it afterward. Why can't they take the nudity as symbolic? Why is everything about just dicks?

I scared the lady next to me in the cinema by laughing at completely inappropriate times.
Therapist: Why do you hate me?
Rorschach: Because you're fat.
Me: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!
Lady: *inches away*
Rorschach kills dude in bathroom. Blood seeps under the door. Movie is silent. Only sound in theatre is me laughing. Lady inches away further.
Came in handy though as I was able to stop her having a conversation with her friend just by leaning over slightly.

I think I went snerk at inappropriate times, and aww at inappropriate times, too. Thankfully the theatre was fairly loud too so no one noticed. And I had to take three bathroom breaks. THREE. How frigging huge are medium Colas?

They want a flatscreen wall-mounted thingie. What a waste.
Get a projector if you only watch movies.

Oh oh oh check out Anna Akhmatova's poem (although you've probably read it already but anyway).
My Way (1940)
One goes in straightforward ways,
One in a circle roams:
Waits for a girl of his gone days,
Or for returning home.
But I do go -- and woe is there --
By a way nor straight, nor broad,
But into never and nowhere,
Like trains -- off the railroad.

eee, rorschy!
I dunno. The shading on the face is kinda odd. Perhaps if it wasn't completely black. But yeah, I have no idea how oekaki works.

It might be too dark - if you think it is I can fiddle with it and make it lighter. Only thing is it's gonna take a while since the outline's the same color as the face and I'll have to separate the two.
I don't like Bubastis though!

That movie kicked so much ass. Jeffrey Dean Morgan + Matthew Goode (looking so goddamn hot in that purple suit) = pretty much flawless. I loved the actor who played Rorsarch, as well.
So it was essentially (almost) three hours of awesome last Friday night.

Lyesmith In reply to AmberEyed51 [2009-03-10 03:53:35 +0000 UTC]
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is also John Winchester.
Rorschach's actor was fantastic for the role - small, wiry, redheaded, and ugly.
It was pretty awesome but so long! And having a huge amount of Cola to drink! They should install a revolving door in those theaters... >_>

I know - I wonder if Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are jealous that JDM is in such a great movie while they...well, I saw Friday the 13th. And I really wish I could have that hour and a half of my life back. Padalecki didn't even take off his shirt! I at least require blatant exploitation in my movies if they insist on being terrible.
Jackie Earl Haley was amazing in Little Children (with Patrick Wilson, coincidentally). Have you seen that? He plays a pedophile and it's so disturbing. The guy is a stellar actor.

Lyesmith In reply to AmberEyed51 [2009-03-11 03:30:17 +0000 UTC]
I know - they both have two recent pseudo-horror movies both of which suck. Poor boys. I wonder if Jensen Ackles takes his shirt off in his .... wouldn't mind paying for the ticket to see that.
I have not but I'm already creeped out. I mean, JEH is kind of scary enough already - does he have to be that kind of scary, too? Pedophile movies are deeply uncomfortable to watch. Remember Lolita with Jeremy Irons? Uck. Beautifully made but so wrong.

AmberEyed51 In reply to Lyesmith [2009-03-11 03:39:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I considered seeing it but everyone I talked to told me it was a waste of time - not even "so bad it's good" - just bad. Bummer. But if Jensen shows skin I'll buy it - if only to support him financially.
Have you seen Ten Inch Hero? I broke down and downloaded it after I couldn't seem to find it. I mean, Jensen Ackles with eyeliner and a mohawk? How can I resist such beauty and hilarity?
I haven't seen Lolita, but I've never really wanted to. I totally get the uncomfortable factor, but I couldn't help but love Little Children. Watching it leaves this huge impact - I'm pretty sure I watched the whole movie without breathing.
Plus the total hotness of Patrick Wilson helps. Those glasses did nothing for him in Watchmen. Poor guy.
Ack, everytime I talk to you I always end up talking about how hot actors are. I really do care about other things, I promise. Just tends to come up I guess, haha.

Who sho cute. Yesh you are. Yesh you are! [link]
Yeah! We're just uh, financially, yes, supporting our favorite actors if they go topless in a movie. It's not strange at all. Or like a light version of prostitution.
I'll probably see it if it's that good - I still have like, 3 movies sitting in my downloads folder waiting for a watch.
I don't see the hot in Patrick Wilson. I just can't. Outside of Nite Owl he just looks like a smug jerkass. Bah.
Hey now, actor hotness is a very serious concern. It has to be discussed and understood, preferably with visual accompaniment.

[link] Does this help? I bet it helps.
I guess it is a bit like prositution, haha. But something tells me Jared Padalecki's just aching to show off those massive biceps. I mean, I'm all for taking care of yourself, but sheesh man! More doughnuts, less jogging. If they get any bigger they're gonna have to start filming further away so he fits in the shot.
And again, I'm super bummed he really didn't do anything in FT13 except sulk and run around. God it was terrible. The highlight of the brilliant dialogue was "Your tits are stupendous!"
Yes, they actually said that.

that's because he's complicated. Real people are, and that's what makes him a character and not just an Archetype. He wants to be good, but his extreme form of Objectivism forces him to see everything in black and white.
There has been a ton of ...And Philosophy books, attempting to introduce philosophy using pop culture (Batman and Philosophy, Matrix and Philosophy, Harry Potter (oh god) and Philosophy. Watchmen and Philosophy could actually work though.
