It takes a lot to hold back forces of nature. It takes an extreme will to hold back an individual's nature. Conformity? Adaptation? Society only works if it spins on those cogs but sooner or later the machine will break. Such honesty will blow free and then the world can take its turn adjusting.

In which a superpower critter is cursed within an ancient dwarven spell of containment and bides his time with patience and playing nice...The desperate freeze over the cogs stuck in place upon his locks would melt one way or another. In the meantime he'd wear this gilded cage like the new personality it demanded for his freedom, yet one that would be as complex. He would know he was close when the gears began to turn and mesh seamlessly.
