Description
My first finished gun concept, plus a small part of a backstory I've been thinking about for a long time now. Please tell me what you think about it.Related content

Your designs are amazing, but what really knocks it out of the ballpark are your descriptions. How do you even take this to such a technical level?

with a barrel that short you wouldn't get to half of 300 metres; it also makes sighting difficult without a laser. There's a reason all firearms are built in a straight line. In fact, I don't even see a barrel.

This is so inspiring! Do you mind if i recreate this design on PMG? :3

Oh, a little question. Could you tilt the model so it's in profile, i.e., in a sideview? Either sides work...

I don't have a 3d modelling program if you mean the models, nor can i install one on this potato of a computer i have...

Oddly enough, there's a gun in Warframe that have a pretty similar design. The Gremlin

I like this weapon, although I'd believe a more rounded magazine would be more mobile than a straight one.
Btw, any chance on designing a handheld Railgun?

What do you actually mean with more mobile?
Would a handheld linear motor precision autocannon be okay?

Sorry, I meant more maneuverable and/or compact. A straight magazine that long would get in the way if the shooter were to go prone, a rounded one might be more flexible in that situation though. Either that or reduce the length of the magazine...
I guess that works.

Oh yes I know what you mean. Yes you're right, another guy said nearly the same and I replied "I thought about it as well, but I wanted a design which makes use of loads of ammunition leftovers from a war long, long ago. Maybe it would be comparable to a modern SMG using WW1 ammo because there are still thousands of magazines laying around in forests and ruins, which would have a rather low-tech look then."
Meh, yes, the concept is ridiculous. :/
I will start modeling if I am inspired!

You could put the magazine like the FNH P90 and move the barrel higher to look more like smg or rifle and less like pistol

I may help out with the inspiring!
Think of a weapon with a rifle-like design, outfitted with electro-magnetic coils powerful enough to propel a small, solid projectile at extremely high speeds, strong enough to pierce a thin steel plate, have little to no recoil upon firing and can charge up relatively quickly (about three to five seconds). Ammo count in a single magazine wouldn't be very high, so it could be more suited for sniper missions.

this puppy looks just exotic enough to catch the eye, and still look lethal and practical, nice balance of competing aesthetics.
On another note I can see these things being "printed" on a really advanced 3-d printer/nano-machine assembler..

Thank you very much! Thanks for noticing, this is what I intended. Thats why I also kept some of the edges to make it look like its made of just a few printed polymer components.

Very nice design, the lower barrel position almost cancels muzzle climb. I really like the open/close muzzle, neat idea. The fire rate is slow for an smg, the shot delay is 0.6 seconds, but this coupled with the low barrel means that this is a precision weapon, in the end. Love it ^^

Very cool design. I like it a lot. The only thing I would object is the straight line magazine. With a staggered row or other means of high capacity, this weapons might
without a problem have 50-60 rounds. That would be more futuristic. But still, a very cool design. You have great potential.
