Description
Here is a short film I made from September 2006 to May 2007 for my BA Hons animation degree - "Mat the Demented Rabbit".
The story involves Mat, a rabbit on the run from the relentless cops of Deco City. It is not until the end that you find out why.
Yeah, I know. The sound ain't the best and the story is, well...but I consider this film an experiment, to see what I could and couldn't do. But most of all, it was my chance to have fun and make my very own movie, with my own characters.
I hope you like it

Like animating 3 or 4 shots, doing a few of the backgrounds, colouring a couple of shots, some of the music and the voices.

Wow!
Such expression.
I love the extreme anxiety close ups, and that explosion at the end ruled!
This has all the visual panache of a high budget TV show.
-Awesome!
How long did it take you?

Thankyou for your comments and your time in seeing this. I was aiming to make it look like something from television, particuarly after researching American action cartoons from the 1990s.
To answer your question, I spent almost a year making this film (including dawdling time ), from September 2006 - May 2007. I already had a concept for the story and characters before then, though it took me until December to wittle things down, since my lecturers didn't think I could make a film longer than 3 minutes (I wanted it to be longer and more epic). Luckily I came to my senses, or I'd still be storyboarding xD.
Scanning a pile of frames took a whole day, and colouring them was just as bad if not worse. One piece of advice I can give you - NEVER leave stuff until the last minute (which is what I did...last week actually, but still). I hope that answers your question.

Oh yes.
Good advice.
Eight months. Yikes. That must have felt a bit discouraging at times. What got you through it; kept you interested?

The thought of having my own film kept me going. I had no intention of failing the course by having no film or finished work, so I pressed on. After all, I did so much work on it, I wasn't about to give up.
There were parts of my film I could have done better, but that's what happens. I doubt I'd go back and change anything; I'd rather learn from this film, because I consider it an experiment of techniques. And if I did tweak it, I'd be up to version 5 or something. I'm sure I'll make other good episodes/films anyway
I have to admit I was kind of lazy . Working on a long project takes time, so you're bound to feel that way, unless you're a real optimist.
I'm glad you found my advice useful

One thing I can say about this is that it's a very professional looking movie! =3
It's as if you ripped it straight from a saturday morning cartoon show.
Really!
When I saw the toon, I immediatly thought: "This can't be real".

I had to fill out an application and get permission before I could submit films. Of course, you can still post Flash films without it. This was for AVI, WMV , MPEG and similar formats.
