This looks great, except for the grip. Seems like it would be very slippery. Swords usually have a ball-like base on the handle, and it's usually decorative, but it's not for decoration.

A katana is a lightweight ninja sword, and they still typically have a straight handle wrapped in textured leather for grip. We're talking about a heavy two-handed or hand-and-a-half(or bastard) sword.
