This looks very good but one thing is bothering me, the running animation seems a little off. I don't know how to explain but it feels a little bit slow and stiff (or is it sluggish the word I'm looking for?). It might be just me so I think you should get the opinion of another person too.

Although I love the colors and artwork, I agree. The animation seems a bit off since the way the character is swinging its body doesn't really match the momentum and speed at which the character is going :T

Yes and it's also missing that umf to the animation like see with this character (Marco from Metal Slug) the way he's "bouncing" seems to make his movement and animation less robotic and more fluid. And also setting the movement speed is going to be very tricky because it needs to be fast enough for the gameplay, the player shouldn't feel the character is too slow for the game unless it's on purpose but then it gets harder to design the game.
