Description She
By: Rafael Rivera

I knew when I saw her that she was the one,
she was beautiful, she was smart, she was kind,
the one that I’d been looking for all my life,
she was the woman that got me out of my mind.

But as I started to know her more and more,
i noticed something that I hadn't noticed before,
it felt weird, it felt awkward it also felt strange,
but some how all of this felt just the same,

In my eyes at some point she started to fade,
the thought in my head that she was just fake,
fake as a mask, a face, a facade,
as if she was leaving for a trip abroad.

A trip that had no end in sight,
no starting date either,
a trip filled with fright,
she was the trip and also the seeker.

When at last I found her,
in the outskirts of town,
she stood staring at something,
not looking around.

She was looking at the moon,
contemplating its beauty,
but her face was not happy,
it was filled with fury.

A fury that started when she was a child,
relationships broken but the sorrow was mild,
at first it was nothing but slowly it grew,
it grew up with her so her future felt blue.

It wasn't her fault,
not the fault in her stars,
that fault is in the lifestyle,
that has torn her apart.

So don’t look at her with pity and sadness,
don’t judge her because her life is madness,
look at her with beauty, look at her with gladness,
don’t try to look inside her gloom and her blackness.

Just try to understand,
just look at the truth,
that you didn't need her,
more than she needed you.

So next time you see her treat her with care,
remember her life has been much less than fair,
just be there for her, even if she doesn't care,
i promise she’ll love you, i promise, i swear.

Love her from a far,
embrace her grand choice,
she still has a scar,
but she still needs your voice.

She's not willing to need,
but you’ll have to accept that,
if you truly love her,
you’ll stay ‘till you bleed.
