This file is already in .icns format for easy install. All you have to do is go to Applications > (right click) VLC > Choose "See Package Content" > enter the contents folder > go to resources folder > rename vlc.icns = vlc_backup.icns > copy this file into the folder and rename it vlc.icns > restart your mac and VIOLA!!!
