One of the few reasons to believe in an hipotethical space conspiracy is that the fucks destoyed the blueprints of such magnificient beast and never did something so big like this again.

Blueprints weren't really destroyed, but some of the documentation was indeed obsolete and discarded. We need to realize how the economy and industry looked like when these machines were built. Building new Saturn V rockets today would mean recreating the whole 60s US economy, industrial facilities and manufacturing techniques, which is impossible nowadays. It's better to design new, more efficient (both in performance and in cost) launch vehicles, taking advantage of all the technological advancement of the last 50 years. So yeah, for someone who's aware of how things work today and worked back then, there's not a single reason to believe in any of that nonsense that moon hoax proponents spread.

i see, thanks, but goddamitΒ 140,000Β kg to LEO and Β 140,000Β kg to TLI, nobody does that anymore and iΒ΄m pretty sure you need that amount to deep space exploration, anyway thanks.

yeah, we need that for deep space exploration and now, with new private space companies and the new space race, there's a pretty bright future ahead

A truly lost opportunity for mankind as a whole. If we had sustained the pace of 1960's- 70's space exploration we would be in far better shape as a whole than we are now.

5... 4... 3... 1... offblast!

Great work. What made you chose Saturn 5s as launch sections, over something like a Soyuz?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MacRebisz In reply to Daemoria [2015-06-24 12:24:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

I chose Saturns because I wanted to show how it would look like if NASA got funded for a lot more manned missions in the 70s, which would increase the launch rate. That would mean that sometimes you could see two or even more Saturn Vs rockets ready for launch.

I admire that source of inspiration and a very root of idea.
Almost as if a world lost a truly amazing opportunity somewhere around the same 60's - 70's to step into new modern social era.
One where perhaps monetary system would be step by step removed globally.
