Description Hello everyone! I've finally gotten around to making a tutorial for all of you curious deviants. ^o^ It's my first tutorial so sorry if anything isn't clear. This is a technique I use, but I'm sure there are many other ways to make ice cream.

Please let me know if you use my tutorial. I'd love to see what you come up with! If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer as soon as possible, but if there are a bunch of the same question I'll just answer the first person so check out the comments just in case.

This is the method I used to make pieces in my gallery. [link]

You can find my pieces on etsy: [link]

This tutorial will also be on my blog: [link]

how do you get the texture?
like it is not very clear about "pulling it"

i was wondering, what do you bake it in?

mAd-ArIsToCrAt In reply to deathbyrobotunicorns [2011-04-20 00:42:35 +0000 UTC]

i bake in a little toaster oven. the only problem i've had was temperature control, but once you've worked with the oven a bit more you'll get the hang of it.

Man, this is hard! I keep scraping the clay, and scraping the clay, I even put it in the freezer for a few minutes like you sugested, and it doesin't look like ice cream-- just scraped clay!

Oh, well. Pracitce makes perfect, I guess. Someday, I WILL make a tiny ball of clay look like ice cream!

By the way, how do you keep from touching and squishing the clay while you're turning it to scrape?

hi! sorry for the late reply. >.<

definitely practice makes perfect, and i kinda let the clay stick to my finger and move around to scrape. This way you don't actually have to touch the clay to rotate! Hope that helped a bit!

Yeah, it helps! I kind of did something like that--I had a small washer like the kind I saw used to make a clay plate in a tutorial, and I sat the clay on that. After much scraping and re-scraping, I think I've got something that passes for ice cream.

Not as good as yours, but its a start!

adorable im gonna make one xD

but uh... does the clay dry on its own? cause i dont want my icecream dripping apart :[ lol

mAd-ArIsToCrAt In reply to Kaitlyn-Christine [2010-02-19 20:51:53 +0000 UTC]

I use sculpey III clay which you bake in the oven. Check the packaging of your clay to see if it's air dry or bake.

that you !!!
I am so ganna make one(when idk lol).

What do you do when your done? Do you add anything on the outside to prevent it from breaking or anything?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mAd-ArIsToCrAt In reply to Kari0520 [2010-02-03 05:00:48 +0000 UTC]

Sorry forgot to mention about after shaping the ice cream. I use sculpey clay which you need to bake so once you do that you can finish it with some kind of glaze or leave it to make it look a bit more natural.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mAd-ArIsToCrAt In reply to Bunneh-World [2010-01-29 22:10:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I use sculpey III, but it's a bit on the soft side so if it gets too squishy I stick it in the freezer for a minute or two.

you look like you have a great tutorial here. makes me wanna try it out sometime.
oh heres a tip if you would like, if you bake the "chips" for about 5 minutes they harden and will keep their "chip shape" while being pushed into the soft clay. I figured this out while making my chocolate chip cookie dough chocolates for valentines day.
