Description
Torn apart inside,
Each voice so very true,
Two sides of the same coin,
This conflict is nothing new,

But still I rage inside,
Indecisive and unsure,
Which one is truly right?
Which is corrupt and which is pure?

Each one is so persuasive,
Each has a worthy reason,
But I cannot choose them both,
They are too different, like the seasons,

One is warm like summer,
A joyous sight to behold,
The other is less forgiving,
Like winter, it's ice cold,

But in the cold lies reality,
A coming threat forewarned,
Whereas the summer haze tells me otherwise,
As if completely uninformed,

One requires action,
One requires change,
The other wants things to stay the same,
And not be rearranged,

But with action comes consequences,
And things I may not like,
But it may well help to save them all,
In the long term I know it's right,

But the other isn't perfect either,
It also has its flaws,
It tells me not to be so paranoid,
To relax and respect the laws,

This may be good in practice,
But it avoids a truth severe,
It encourages idle existence,
Whilst a growing threat draws near,

And although this one gives me comfort,
By telling me it's all ok,
That everything will be alright,
And that I'll be dead by then, anyway,

I still feel I must act,
Then at least I'll know I tried,
Even if many had to suffer,
Even if many had died,

Their sacrifice is necessary,
As will mine be in the end,
The visions do not lie,
Of that I can't pretend,

So do I just let things happen?
And be an angel of the light?
Or do I stand up and take action?
Like a Dark Angel of the night?

It is a hard decision to make,
And I wish I could choose them both,
One way or the other,
My choice will become my oath,

Surely there must be a way,
To become a mix of the two,
To be generous, wise and forgiving,
Whilst overthrowing the old world with a coup,

To be cold, calculating and clever,
Whilst being fair, good-natured and noble,
To rise above low intolerances,
Whilst being aggressive and my intentions, global,

I must satisfy my hunger for power,
Whilst also being strong enough to resist,
I must be a guardian angel,
Whilst ruling with an iron fist,

Can it truly be done?
It is a healthier mind-set for sure,
Not seeing the world in black and white,
Yes, this vision is something more,

Thank you valuable voices,
You have both shown me the way,
Neither of you are right absolutely,
But your advice will shape the next day,

I must now think hard on this,
For a new path has opened up at last,
And it shall carve a better world for us all,
Away from my tormented past...
