As Dr K explained.....the explosion is necessary to discharge excess of energy when morphing.
.....RPM had the best use of the explosions when standing besides that explanation.

Alright, this is more of a joke the more thorough Power Rangers fans would get. See, the seasons from SPD to Jungle Fury would be known as the Kalish Era, due to being headed by Bruce Kalish as a fresh new direction requested by Disney. While seasons like SPD and Jungle Fury were well-received, a common criticism of these seasons would be the constant use of explosions which would explode once and would replay the footage zoomed in and slowed down, known as Kalish-splosions by some of the fanbase. These explosions were criticized for making explosions feel less significant and interrupting the action with their abundant uses. The worst offender in some fans' eyes being Operation Overdrive for not only clocking in at over 250 explosions, but having explosions if one of the rangers suffered so much as a blunt strike.Β

Then let's be thankful what we saw in Super Megaforce is all. But to explain the detail: basically it's a sort of energy discharge the suits release once a morph is completed. That way it doesn't build up, and cause damage to the ranger. Or something like that at least.

Because he's the most well-known, and recurring power rangers character around. And don't forget he was part of the main cast for the series until the halfway point of Turbo. So of course he'd get multiple PR forms. I don't remember how he got to be featured in Dino Thunder, but since it really WAS tommy oliver, it was inevitable he'd become a ranger again. Once a ranger, always a ranger.
