Youtube video: youtu.be/4XgOwROKdDQThis started out as a doodle and then I just... decided to color it because I didn't know how to color/shade/add effects in Toon Boom and After Effects so I figured it would be good practice. First time using it and first time animating a mouth so yeah good practice I guess.
Anyway this is Ashfur from the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. I'm sure you all know the scene if you read the books.
I'm not sure what he's saying... use your imagination lol. I just wanted to practice mouth movements. Ignore my really bad fire and shading please.

The character model looks very good. One thing I would suggest, though, is more movement with the fire.

Yeah that's why I said don't look at the fire ;___; it is just 5 repeated frames because I didn't want to put too much detail into it since it was just a doodle and I needed to get back to commissions lol
I just wanted a bit more than a single colored background so I slapped very minimal frames down

may i ask about how you colored in toon boom? ive been having the hardest time trying to color neatly

It's really difficult and I'm not sure if I did it right to be honest. I basically lined it, made a new layer below the lines and used the brush tool to color each frame. To shade, I using the stroke tool to section off the shading areas and then dumped the color. To make the shading transparent, I had to make a new layer over the shading, a "color transform" effect layer, and combine the two in a clipping mask. I'm not sure if that makes any sense to you... this is my first time using the program so I'm very new to it as well. XD

not been able to color correctly in toon boom at all
some people are able to keep the colors really consistant and i just dont get how xD
did you really sit there and color inside the lines? or is there some way to block it in

I sat there and colored inside the lines. It was torture ;3; I'm not sure how to do it any other way but there might be. I still have to learn how, if so ;__;
