Description
Holy Hell!It started out as a sketchy quicky thing and look it that background! lol.Story:
The mustang stallion was 4 years old now, and had been undersaddle doing light 15 to 30 minute rides for a year. He was friendly, intelligent, and tough, which made him very easy to ride. Because of his strength, surefootedness, and otherwise plain gait, he was deemed an endurance horse.
Having done well in the arena and on the short, rather simple trail rides as a three year old, the head trainer had given William the ok to take him out and see where the stallion was in fitness and ability. The aim was to give the young horse free rein and allow him to go as far as he wanted until he broke a lather and got out of breath, then to walk home quietly.
Tuson had set out ears up-pricked at a steady canter, eyes set on the highest peak beyond the ranch, about 6 miles inland. Will figured they'd make it across the valley and to the foothills at four miles before they would turn back.
Yet here they were, noon come and gone, the stallion lurching over yet another crest on the mountain. He had a sheen on his coat from the sweat and was finally starting to breath heavily. Will was starting to pull back on the reins now, at half a mile up the mountain and a steep ride down to look forward to.
Tuson pulled against the pressure, still game for the climb, but relented. They stood, steam rising from both, both slightly winded, looking out over the valleys of Wilder's Estate. The ocean was visible from here. Wait till Will got home and told Duncan!
