Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica, California.I feel bad for the balloons. These seem just a tad deflated maybe by the attitude of their sponsor.

Old sckool, fixed lens real manual controls where they used to be (mechanical focus is smooth and clean) and very minimal digital interface but for the fact that in full auto it seems to be doing spectacularly. The only "problem" I have found so far is that in auto multi-point metering it hates backlight and adjusts to the light instead of the subject. Small first world problem, of course.

Exposure Compensation should take care of the auto multi-point metering problem. I sometimes use Spot Metering as my go to for obtaining accurate exposure in tricky lighting conditions.
Just googled the LQ (Typ 116), it's a gorgeous looking camera. I think the 28mm suits your style perfectly.

Spot is the solution in those situations. Exposure comp on multi point still confuses the electronic brain in backlit situations. This picture had strong light coming in from the side and it balanced very well in that situation. These shots were extracted from post-sunset conditions - - pretty dark but not yet nighttime - - and I thought the sensor did well producing a RAW file I could then pull the image out of.
