Description
The Yellow Steeple, Trim, County Meath (Ireland)Located on a small ridge directly opposite to Trim Castle (the largest Norman castle in Europe and generally largest castle of Ireland) this steeple was formerly a tower of the Augustinian Abbey of St. Mary. It was used as both a bell tower and a refuge in times of strife.
The steeple dates from 1368 and stands over 40 meters (about 120 feet) tall.
The tower gets its name thanks to the coloration of the stone during sunset.
