Description A detail of the dry wall (i.e. stone without any form of concrete holding it together) of an old Iron age Irish ring fort.

Staigue Fort - is located near Castlecove, Ring of Kerry, a circular stone fort, with a single doorway entrance and interior stairways as high as the wall. It was built during the Iron Age, so it is around 2,500 years old. The fort is an excellent example of dry masonry and shows remarkable sophistication in design and workmanship.

The walls are in the highest parts around 5.5 m (18ft) high and about 4 m thick and enclose a circular area with about 27m diameter.
