Description I was having a conversation with my grandfather about North Carolina history, and why it was called the "tar heel" state. He brought up the slash marks that were put on pines for their tar, and I had a disturbing thought. Our walnut tree in the front yard of my house has slash marks on it, and it has been there before our family lived there. There was also an upside down horse shoe that has been there as well and I have always been curious as to how it got there. I brought up the horse shoe to my grandfather while I was eating dinner with him...

"You never noticed the horse shoe in the walnut tree in our front yard, Grandpa? I remember when I was younger I'd always look at it and think of how it got there. Do you think the men who marked the pine trees could have done it?"

"Well, back in the ol' days, a horse shoe has always been known to be good luck. Is the horse shoe right side up? If it is, then it means that the people on that property should have good fortune, and good luck."

I shook my head, it was upside down.

"Oh... well, that is interesting," he said with his voice growing concerned, "A horse shoe that is upside down is to cause bad luck and misfortune. And seeing as to how old your land is and how long it seems to have been there, I think it was turned upside down because of that myth. The people that put it there did it intentionally, I wonder..."

I can only wonder as well....

=] I used my Coolpix 5 for this photo.

At the doorsteps, evil lurks.

I'm always interested in hex breaking formulas, and thank you for the kind offer! If you would like to send the formulas via note, I would really appreciate it! I was thinking about the usual take some salt, put it in a dish under the full moon along with an offering to the goddess, wait until the next night to draw a circle around the tree to break it. But, I'm sure yours will work much more than that idea. Thanks, again!

It is strange.
>__>;

The man who owned the house before us had a heart attack in the woods of our backyard, he died at the hospital, and the house was sold for dirt cheap by the mans. My parents bought it, and lets put it this way... yeah.

I'm going to have to do some more research.
