Description As promised, here is the process I used to make the hairline for 's Zack Fair wig :3

Though I've done lots of cheating with wefts/excess fibers and glue before, I'd like to thank for inspiring the idea to do this with hairlines. She made a quicky tutorial a long time ago, but she took it down before I was able to use it as reference. I don't remember if hers was the exact same process, but please check out her gallery and her amazing wigs! :3

Your wig tutorials are super easy to follow. Ironically, I was in the process of making a Zack wig for my little sister.

how long are the pieces you're adding? Are they short or long? I am just worried about blending into the rest of the wig

Can you style the hair after you've glued it on? I'd like to use this method on a curly wig. I'd have to curl the fibers AFTER they'd been glued on so that the new fibers can be a part of the old ones in a single curl. Thank you so much - this really is a great tutorial!!

Great tutorial but I'm a little confused with how you place the hair on the fabric and I cant quite tell in the photos. Do you just glue the wefts flush with the original hairline or do you have the wefts going up over the original hair line and merging into the wig?

Manic-Misha [2013-03-02 08:00:11 +0000 UTC]

I wanted to thank you for this tutorial! I used it for my Saix wig! However, instead of fabric I used felt, and instead of tacky glue I used hot glue and clear elmers glue along with some spiking gel. It is fabulous, and now my wig looks great! [link]

So im using this tutorial for my Cosmos Wig and Im curious, Can I use felt for the base lining and Hot glue instead of tacky or fabric glue? also, How would you wash the wig?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Malindachan In reply to okami-chan1023 [2013-01-10 16:45:53 +0000 UTC]

well, if you used felt and hot glue, it might make the area super thick and bulky. So it might look a bit weird. I prefer a thinner fabric and the tacky glue because the glue can soak into the fibers rather than make extra bulk.

And you can't usually wash heavily styled wigs. Wear a wig cap to help keep your wig clean, and when storing it keep it on a wig head in a place that won't collect as much dust. Or carefully cover the wig with something lightweight like a plastic bag to keep dust off.

I was looking for a tutorial on this for a while! My fiance wants me to do Zack from when he first met Aerith in Crisis Core, so I get the added bonus of making his friggen' bangs!

TheBadRomantic [2012-09-25 03:12:40 +0000 UTC]

I'm going to be volunteering at a costume carnival running one of the stations. The other workers wanted to do a Hunger Games theme to our costumes and appointed me as Caesar Flickerman. I've struggled to find a wig that doesn't have short bangs so that the hair can be tied back or hidden, but Now I can actually have a decent hairline instead of leaving a few chunks as cover up. Thank you!

Is there a chance the hot glue will melt a bit where the fabric hairline and the wig meet, with it being by your forehead? My props started to fall apart because the heat outside was getting to a boiling point at the last con I went to.
