I totally agree, the red and black definitely give it a sinister look, but you have to remember this things gonna be floating through space.
I think thats one of the primary reason the star destroyers and most of the other ships in star wars (and star trek) were more grey. I'd try making the blacks a dark shade of grey or possibly making the metal reflective? An ominous red glow eminating from the bowls of the ship might also make it stand out more while giving it a dark, evil look. I don't think you should compromise the general look and lighten up any of the other colors though. Dark green is also an "evil" tone, maybe try that out as well.
Don't mind the nitpicking though, it's looking great. Feels like it's just about there!

Well the red and black was the colors I was asked to do.
Later this week I will be doing some other color schemes for the ship as well so keep you eyes open.

Very impressive, as always. Love the texturing, the black works well with the blue lighting basics.
