Description
It started raining this morning and I couldn't resist :][edit: this one really looks better with a border]
Oh! and I just turned down the brightness on my screen and this looked really cool. So maybe I'll edit it that way in the near future.

They weren't flooding, but it had just rained tremendously; so I risked life and camera to wade out into the torrents of raging death that came all the way up to my ankles...just for this masterpiece :]

Not a problem I've ever had... mostly because of where I live, though. In parts of India or south america I'd be likely to get worms, although it's a myth that most worms can enter the body via the feet, of course. The biggest danger is some diseases and parasites you can get from stepping in fresh dung with feet that have open cuts on them. In North America, the bear is the animal whose dung is most likely to be a problem. But if the dung is that fresh, you may have otehr problems, and should take care
Having said that, jumping up and down barefoot in running water, especially in the gutter of a street, you might not see broken glass.
best,
Liam

Wow, talk about a bearfoot expert. :]
All I remember is my mom's stories from africa (she was born in Zimbabwe while her parents were missionaries). They put some chemical on the villager's feet and it bubbled on any open wounds (the bubbling means it's working?)...One guy's feet just kept bubbling and bubbling, and soon this worm started crawling out...they pulled it out and it was like a yard long :\ ugh.

The chemical is hydrogen peroxide probably. You can buy it at Shoppers' Drugmart or any good pharmacist/chemist, at least here in Toronto.
And yes, in Africa, South America, and India (and other countries) there are parasites that infect feet. There aren't enough barefooted people wandering around North America to keep them in business and in any case it's generally too cold for them here, even in Summer! In Arkensas there are flies that lay eggs in people's flesh, I'm told. Even in Ontario you can get deer ticks, but neither the flies nor the ticks seem to attack feet particularly, except maybe the tops if you don't use a repellant.
Best,
Liam
